We are, perhaps, uniquely among the earth’s creatures, the worrying animal. We worry away our lives, fearing the future, discontent with the present, unable to take in the idea of dying, unable to sit still.

Lewis Thomas

indeed, that seems to me to be our only and unique obstacle this time around as people, our intellect sense of identity and underlying precursor emotions.

I read somthing pretty fuckin profound the other day and i have been pondering for it for a while and u either get it or u really get it,
"why did the chicken cross the road?-to get to the OTHER SIDE"
It has absolutely nothing to do with a chicken traveling across a road, it is about life and death and choices. People have been saying this philisophical genius for years without the inclination that it meant anything besides thinking it was such a dull joke that its funny. The chicken symbolizes man, the road is the road of his life which route he has taken and that we take our path in life to get to the other side we were all born to walk a path but they all end in the same place we were born to die.

that is exactly right, i think, it is all in how you look at it, and the chicken didnt think to be scared...

I have recently come to the conclusion that the dali lama is a fuckin boss. Do u ever have feelings or intuition but cant put it into words....i do and i think that is what philosophy is about, trying to put those things into words.

"A spoon cannot taste of the food it carries. Likewise, a foolish man cannot understand the wise man´s wisdom even if he associates with a sage."

"If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry."

"Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it."

"To conquer oneself is a greater victory than to conquer thousands in a battle."

Imagine if we were all forcefed dalai lama or Buddhas teachings instead of the Jesus and mohummid bs.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Timeless, dust will never settle on those words

Thats exactly how i feel man i dont believe in any god, i believe in evolution and that christianity is very detrimental to people in general. things would be much better if the mainstream religeon was budhism.

I broke down a while ago
finally picking up the pieces
memoirs I had are undefeated
I feel depleted
I dont talk to God as a matter of fact I plead with
At times I hate my reflection and others I’m conceited
half the time I’m arrogant other times I’m vengeful
at times it’s to convince me, at times it’s to convince you
done a lot of wrong but I aint never felt resentful
its been so many times I’ve lost track of who to repent to
half the time I’m in the cut
dont want you to notice me
roll with me and you’ll see that I’m only awkward socially
half the time I’m spiteful, double barrell rifle
I owe so many payback I fee l like I got the right too
so if you need a case in point you can refer to budden
and it will prove that pain killers never murdered nothing
all it did was make me succumb put ice in me, make me numb
as I revisit the places it takes me from
Im strong
..

- Joe Budden

It's utterly bizarre how this verse is a total summation of my thoughts and feelings.

Not everyone enjoys hip/hop (not radio rap, the real shit), but check Budden out. He's deep (and troubled) and heconnects the dots for people in a very empathetic and emotional way.

I say this with all certainty
people wanting the worst for me
gotta wait in a long line, it’s not a first for me
most of my defects have been put in my past
if you only see what I have than you overlooking my path
if you knew about my hardships and the blood shed
it’ll speak for itself and thats enough said
I carry heavy weight, who wanna try and bear it
hope to lessen it daily if you wonder why I share it
being stuck in the moment never appealed to me
you aint lived my life so you can’t imagine how real it be
I’m talking about the long haul, put me on a high pedestal
better be prepared to watch a long fall
so the trampoline I adore
Got so much to say to the people I ignore
dog, some moments you’d rather forget because they scare you
I lock on them sh-ts like a pit they just prepare you
photographic memory of Deja Vu
the way I do, whatever I say I do
n-gga built Ford tough, show facades what talent is
get a different view you aint gotta dodge challenges
emotional rollercoasters, Vivian Green, every event lead to live in dream
or do I live in a dream, there’s no such thing as a crisis
my point can’t come up short, when sh-t is priceless

- Budden

Another one of his more resonant verses with me. Sure, there are some beautifully articulate classical quotes that cover the gamut of how we feel and serve as motivation, but most of the best ones you've all already covered, I'm merely sharing something more contemporary.

Budden is my go-to artist when I feel down.

I lost loved ones because they couldn’t deal with me
Cherish whoever still with me though the marriage be killed in me
Normally it’s just me and my lonely mind
Everyone's storm is different so this forecast is only mine
Fans recognize my misery uplifted me
Shifted me to my epitome, guess the curse is a gift to me
Maybe its serendipity, maybe it’s weighing on me physically
Maybe I should man up and tell GOD not to solicit me
Been medicated, meditated
Sedated, hated
Character assassinated, all theses years I masqueraded
Hard headed, if it was on my mind I had to say it
Tongue on the devil’s pitchfork to see how disaster tasted

One last Budden quote. Some of his finest lyrics here.

On my face I scratched out something like a silhouette
around the golden ten like lambs
on my face I've hidden away any embarrassment,
away from my acquaintances
I'm not sold on anything but half a dream
I'm not sensing a thing

I see a blank notebook page
and it's my life and there is
nothing I can think to write
I fear the thought of not sensing a thing

I hope you don't see a thing
I said, smile through everyone you ever see
(so what you gave him the time of day)
twist back and end this suffering
