"Man will have become perfect like God when he has learned to create and to destroy like God. He has already learned to destroy, and that is half the battle."

-Alexandre Dumas.

"take the good with the bad, smile with the sad, love what you've got and remember what you had. forgive but not forget, learn from mistakes but never regret."

Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

Kahlil Gibran

Jon Krakauer from the book INTO THE WILD said:
"I read somewhere how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once... to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions, facing blind, deaf stone alone, with nothing to help you but your own hands and your own head. . . ."

One of my favourite quotes from that book and film, so many in there though it is hard to choose.

"Wherever you go..there you are"

"If the government was actually there and really interested in protecting your life, liberty and property, they wouldnt be the first ones to threaten to take it away from you"

‎"No man can live faced with Death, knowing everything is nothingness."
-- Antonius Block (The seventh seal)

I couldn't believe how relevant that movie was today considering it was made in 1957. Not only because of the faith vs. atheism debate, it touches (unknowingly) on topics like life extension that were in their infancy back then.

"If it’s true that our species is alone in the universe, then I’d have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."

"Reject the basic assumption of civilization, especialy the importance of material possesion."

"I noticed very quickly that it's all fiction, & in a way nobody wanted to know I was real. They wanted to build their own myth, & believe it for their own reasons. That was a very significant moment. That was when I knew that nobody cares who you are, & that's very empowering. Then you realize you don't exist, you are fiction, & you have no restrictions as a fictional character." - Genesis P-Orridge

^ Haha! What a fantastic and wacky quotation!
