I contend that kids do it for the moves and adults do it because of the moves. Discuss
 
Perhaps the OP is saying that kids do it simply to get high, where adults do it because of the type of high it gives?

If that is the case, I disagree.

^Sounds like what he's probably trying to say - and what he/she said (?) in a previous post.

Of course there is probably truth to it, but there are plenty of people of all ages that use it for any number of reasons.

thats a funny topic,, i am approaching 40!!! last year i went to HTID ,in Spain,, a week long party and SeRIOUS excessive drug use!! like i have never seen!! but as for the reasons to do E???
it does offer great insight and lets you look at yourself in the mirror and if you do not like what you see,, you will do something about it,, otherwise, i still LOVE to party, and dance my ass off, but i have been feeling a bit old ,,due to the younger crowds,, especially at hardcore events, usually 19-29,, i haven't sat around at home much ,,as almost none of my friends are into it,, and very judgmental on the whole drug thing,,, alot of the younger crowd ,,discover this feeling, and never want to let it go,, it takes ups and downs in life to teach you that getting high is a treat, and you must respect the good and bad it can do for you,,and know when to backoff and stay away from it ,,8)
 
Approaching 40 here too! You know - I think nowadays - since I only do it here and there I kinda appreciate it more. It is cool cause I do it with some old friends and such. Our of the rave scene and usually if I am near a club I am either shooting video for a DJ or something so I am working. But still love the euphoric deal and the chattyness. But man I have to say the biggest deal is the quality in the past vs today - but at the same time everything seems like it was bigger and better when your were young.
 
Agreed. I'm 20, rolled for the first time at 18, and have never raved or even come close to it in my life. My first time involved my becoming instant best friends (and we still are) with the person I rolled with, and that is the way I've conducted all of my MDMA experiences since- small groups, quiet places. I think that's the core of it though- it depends on how you were introduced to it. E has become associated with a certain type of drug user, and so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as to who is going to take it. With a generation that is so dependent on prescription drugs, coupled with the fact that the majority of people now know that the government/most of society doesn't actually know anything about drug culture, kids are left to seek advice on drugs from their peer groups- and given how our generation now had allowed itself to become treated, drugs lack that 'fight for your soul' feel they used to contain- they have taken a purely recreational position in an age that feels like technology and science are replacement enough for faith and self-salvation (I am in no way condemning either of those things, I just feel that science's claim as the only institution of truth is slightly flawed).
But yeah, sorry, back on topic-
Us kids get sucked into a scene because it's all we've known, it's not a revolution in our time the way it used to be. But I feel as if the people who don't view it simply for recreation are even more in tune with what it can bring, and they can help spread that view more powerfully than ever before now that a lot of the sensationalism had calmed down and more (younger) people have access to the truth behind it.
You also have to realize that this generation, for the most part, gets a lot more fake and adulterated stuff... they don't know how to interpret the magic because they haven't actually been getting it.
 
So what everyone's saying is that if you go to a rave, 'you haven't done E properly'.
There are things you'll feel in a club that you won't feel at home, and vice versa.

I'm 18, and yes, I roll in clubs most of the time, but it doesn't mean all 'youngsters' are the same as the one's you're describing in this post :P.
 
it depends on the individual but yeah, i think the older crowd devirves more insight from the experience.

or maybe many young people do get it but are far more hip and aware for their age than we ever were. they don't need to talk about it as much...

i'm 17 and see idiots out in town that are between 18-25 eating less than me and acting more like fucking idiots than i am. It's like everything else, if you're gonna take it in excess, make sure you can fucking act straight or at least decent.

No, what I'm saying is our generation, generally, has access to less good pills than the last. This, coupled with the fact that ecstasy is introduced as being a great "party" drug by people who have never had their mind blown by it makes it far more likely that it is going to be abused. Real MDMA has a pull that allows for great, profoud experiences everywhere- but look at what has flooded the clubs and the scenes now. Less real product means less profound experiences means a culture more likely to abuse the drug.
 
WTF? most of the 35+ rollers i know have been using E for as long as me they are just older and they like it for the same reason i do..
