Yes! Gay marriage finally legal!

I tend to agree with PT. I think the main issue is the "baggage" around marriage that has been mentioned, and fair does, there is baggage. But there's baggage around anything which involves some official deciding that it's OK for you to live with and maybe have sex with someone and share your worldly goods, and what rights partners have when another partner fucks off or cops it. Getting official sanction is, to my mind, just a way of passing on responsibility to some authority. But I realise there are many hurdles to overcome before we can get rid of that. In a way, I guess it's a win for gay people, but I really hope they don't think that that's everything "just fine" now. Cos it's not.

Edit - My maw got married about 10 years back, it had absolutely fuck all to do with the church. I don't see what's different from their wedding, that happened in a hotel, and a "civil partnership". Can anyone explain?
