y xtract mescaline?

I have heard that ypu should do 3 boils (as in strain the water and use the strained out bits in new water another two times) and each boil should be 3 hours. Is this unnecesary?

I read that too, but I also got advice from somebody else that this was unnecessary-- that boiling too long eventually weakens the mescalines.

When I first did it myself, all the cactus bits and pulp, upon being strained through the t-shirt the first time, had lost almost all their color, and were largely mush. I decided that it wasn't necessary to waste more time doing multiple boils.

What did this "extracted mescaline" look like?

it looked like extracted mescaline =p

it was real. Looked beautiful, grayish shiny chunks crystals with almost a recrystalized brown sugar look to it. Could tell it was dried in a pyrex dish, hardened into a sheet, and was then broken up.

I've chewed up my fair share of tried p torch, gulped snot, and swallowed fish fulls of OOO caps. This was by far the most comfortable time, and maybe the most beneficial to my mind. (But not the strongest time, 50 grams torch was a hell of a crazier ride)

The nausea hit me hard at the one hour mark, but passed quickly and I avoided throwing up. There was a bit of muscle tension in my legs like with all phens. The tension dissolved away around the 3 1/2 - 4 hour mark. Usually I don't get sick till the 3-4 hour mark, this got in me way faster.

was this advice from a scientist?

heat at or above boiling temps WILL not damage mescaline, duration of boil means nothing- unless you boil oit all the liquid and raise temps over 250*f

thats assuming it is in its natural acidic form,

once based, then yes, it has a lower bp
170-190*f iirc

i did some basic temp tests, baked purified mescaline at 3-350*f in the oven for 1.5hrs,
no loss of potency, or discoloration

i have also boiled and pressure cooked many batches for a long time w/out any issue

Again, I'm not a scientist or claim to have any knowledge about anything. I just do things, and if they work, I stick with them.

theres several reasons for extraction including, Perfect potentiation of dosage and intensity, Wait times, Peak tomes, Cleaner high etc. I would say that obtaining the things you are doing in its purest forms is the best way to do it.

^ah, duh, haha I don't know how I forgot that line

knowing him though he probably had more than one drug in his system. And we may be underestimating the possibility that he's the type of guy who would be seeing bats with our with out drugs =p

The quote is:

"We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive...." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas. And a voice was screaming "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?"

Mescaline is safe enough to delve in to it at 12" of cactus, which doesn't represent a standardized amount of mescaline. Obviously, the girth of the cactus varies considerably from plant to plant, as does the concentration of alkaloids, so nobody can say that this is an unsafe practice - people have been dosing this way for centuries or even millenia. We're not talking about heroin/opium which has a very present LD50; psychedelic drugs generally have a very large margin of safety (apart from a few exceptions such as bromo-dragonfly etc.) so the harm-reduction arguement doesn't really apply in the same context. Harm reduction in this sense is more about preventing people from having an overwhelming trip, however the nature of psychedelic drugs is one of complete suprise and it could even be considered silly to attempt to protect people from that aspect of the experience.

Thank you! For clearing that up, and showing how easy it is for information to get distorted in this fashion. Hunter Thompson never said that every event in this book happened as written, although clearly the general story is truthful: the mint 400 was taking place, he was there to cover it, and he took a lot of drugs on the assignment.

Exactly. Its one of my all-time favourite books. It highlights the ugliness and hypocrisy of mainstream American culture in the 1960s - going to Vegas in search of the American Dream haha - but it doesnt glorify the drug scene either. He's very critical of Timothy Leary and all the people who saw drugs as some way to create a utopian world
