xanax temazepam and alcohol

Hi

I'm going out to a work party tonight and really can't be bothered to but I gota so anyway I've taken 2mgs if Xanax throughout the day so far and to get me in the mood a bit was going to take 60mgs of temazepam. Its an open bar so will be drinking to. I know this is not the best combo but I need something to take the edge off before I go as we're all starting with a meal first.

Basically will I be OK on temz and alcohol as I had my last Xanax 4hrs ago.

That is a difficult question to answer.

As I am sure you are aware, mixing benzos and alcohol (two CNS depressants) together can be dangerous or even fatal if too much is consumed. The trouble is, they really synergise together and you can get a lot more fucked up than you anticipate. It is also very easy to lose your judgement on this combo, and end up taking more and ODing, or doing things you really regret, falling over and hurting yourself, reckless behaviour etc...

Temazepam doesn't sound like a great choice for a night out as it is a hypnotic benzo (puts you asleep) rather than anxiolytic like Xanax and diazepam (amongst others)..

What is your benzo tolerance at the moment?

I really would not advise this, it's far too easy to get too fucked up and potentially put yourself in danger.

It isn't a good idea to mix any benzo with alcohol as toxicity is increased many times over. But in moderation it could be okay, or you may blackout completely. I guess it depends on your experience/tolerance.

Temazepam is an highly toxic benzo (the most toxic in fact). Compare LD50 (median lethal dose) for temazepam it's 833 mg/kg, while alprazolam is 2171 mg/kg (despite being 40x more potent by weight than temazepam!). Temazepam and alcohol mixes have caused A LOT of human fatalities - read Dr. Ashton's manual on Benzos. Back in the 80's and 90's in Europe and Australia there was an huge number of people who lost their lives to the mixture.

Why?

Just because there is alcohol..doesn't mean you have to drink kids!

And...if you do plan on drinking..then why can't you just have a drink before you go..
to take the edge off...instead of more benzo's..

Mixing the two is no joke..although they may be making jokes the next day about the
guy/girl who went to the party and mixed benzo's with alcohol...and then did ______
(fill in the blank w/any number of possible embarassing actions).
I would hope the end result would only be embarrassment..as this combo's been known to end up
much worse.

I would follow kokaino's advice and effie's advice. Temazepam has a steeper dose-response curve than other benzos. Alprazolam and alcohol on top of that...? Sounds dangerous. An open bar mixed with benzos usually doesn't end well.

I would advice against mixing benzos and alcohol while attending a WORK function. Unless you just really hate your job I guess. Assuming you dose appropriately (ie safely) the nature of the combo ensures chaos during the best of times.

yea I'll just take 30mgs of temazepam then. The Xanax shud have worn off by now anyway so shud be OK I'll just moderate my alcohol consumption. Just out of interest would coke be a good idea interaction wise as I'm propa tried.

Coke and alcohol could be very dangerous to your heart. Cocaine is cardiotoxic on its own, mixed with alcohol the mixture creates cocaethylene in the body, which is even more cardiotoxic than cocaine. A lot of people mix the two, I have done it myself many, many times. But it's generally not a good idea.

As everyone has basically said, if you're going to be drinking this just has bad written all over it. You might attempt to limit your alcohol consumption, but mixing two benzos and drinking is a surefire way to an instant blackout. And once you're blacked out, you're likely to drink more than intended, and adding coke to the mix won't bring you back, it'll make things worse.

And whether 60 mg or 30 mg or temazepam, it won't make much difference. I strongly advise not to do it. Though the idea that this may be a troll...I have my suspicions as well ha.

Harm reduction aside, temazepam and alcohol just feels nasty. The combo causes nausea for some reason... every other benzo and alcohol goes together like "chips and salsa." (read that somewhere on BL)

lose the temazepam and take a small amount of xanax if you MUST, to take the "edge" off. I've taken temazepam a few times over the past 5 or 6 days and once had two beers before hand, I felt weak and fell asleep with 40 mins. You don't need the Temazepam, there's bound to be some sexy ladies. I hope you had fun and are safe!

The lower the LD50 (median lethal dose) is the more toxic the drug is. LD50 is simply the dose required to kill half the people that take it. LD100 is the dose required to kill all people that take it.
So temazepam has a very low LD50 at 833 mg/kg, this makes it exceptionally toxic in comparison to other benzos. Alprazolam has a high LD50 at 2171 mg/kg which simply means that it is harder to OD on alprazolam (Xanax) than it is to OD on temazepam (Restoril). The lower the LD50, the more toxic the drug is and thus easier to OD on. So another example is triazolam which has a LD50 of 1625 mg/kg (this means that it is easier to OD on triazolam than it is to OD on alprazolam).

Drugs are toxins, just like poisons or venom. It's just that most drugs that are safe for human consumption generally have a higher LD50 than say something like a snake venom (ie. black mamba venom LD50 is 0.12 mg/kg - so that is deadly toxic).
