Alprazolam (xanax)-very experienced- Gettin zand

Benzos are a rather boring (and dependence forming) substance when compared to the psychedelics, but yesterday was interesting. This "trip report" is to not only document my 1 experience, but generally describe the effects of benzos.

Yesterday i popped 3mg of xanax after i finally got them. (this would be a large dose for someone with no tolerance)

I had been waiting a long time for this. I am somewhat dependent on benzos- i have GAD. benzos has been the only reliable method for me to conquer anxiety that i believe originated from chemical imbalances caused by a few very hard LSD experiences.

In about 45minutes, i felt the inhibitions lowering and anxiety decreasing. I started chatting on icq with ppl i have ignored (and have ignored me) for a long time. Some of these conversations went well. I felt relaxed, but clear headed. I was comfortable with my body; usually i feel things wrong with it, like weird pains or tension. I felt social- i wanted to do something with people. Unfortunately, this was my day off and my friends were working.

2 hours after ingestion is usually the peak for common benzos. Alprazolam is the same. I felt loose, my illogical inhibitions disappeared. I called a friend i havent talked to in weeks. i just said whats up... do u want to go camping tonite. benzos increase sociability like alcohol, but do not cause "drunk talk" (at least i never experienced it)- talking about whatever pops to mind without thought, slurred speech...etc.

Since I was pretty much alone without any activities to do, i did get some depression. This can happen while on benzos. I then decided to go for a walk and smoke some cannabis. I took 3 hits. The relaxing/stimulating effect of the weed went nicely with the xanax.

4 hours after ingestion i was sort of in a trance- not really thinking, just feeling tired. Abnormal inhibitions (anxiety) still low, but sociability somewhat reduced.

Effects lasted about 6 hours- after that i was left with a slightly depressed feeling (partially due to boredom) and no craving for any GABA agonist (alcohol, gbl).

Some random info on getting "zand" or "benzo'd":
memory loss occurs somewhat
time can go very fast
negative bodily effects (pain, nausea, itching) reduce in intensity
anxiety will be nonexistant or remanifest itself into depressive symptoms
no real hangover, but possible increase in anxiety the next day (usually only with consistent use)
impairment of coordination
munchies (even more than pot sometimes)

I have found all benzos to be almost identical in effects, only varying in length and some are more sedating than others. Also, some produce tolerance easier. Valium tolerance is the most rapid to build...xanax the least to form tolerance.

If u have anxiety and use benzos... u are likely to want more eventually and become dependent on them to feel normal.

Intriguing...

I've not consumed many benzos in my time, in fact, my entire lifetime consumption of benzodiazepines would add up to about 20mgs of Diazepam (Valium).

However, I'm always curious to find out about drugs that I don't have a lot of experience with. Cheers for the tripreport, its well written and easy to read, and I hope things are working out re: the GAD.

Good information, thanks for posting! :)

GAD = general anxiety disorder

Playing with XBoX

Symmetrical Daze, I completely identify with your report.

I, too, suffer from GAD, and I, too, use it both for medicinal & recreational purposes.

Xanax is the BEST benzo, period.

It's sneaky, though, how addiction can creep up on you...
Withdrawal from large amounts over medium periods
is PURE HELL!

As for positives, though, especially for those who generally suffer from anxiety, the feeling of not a care in the world, even for a day, can give you the power of optimism for a week or two.

(Problem with me is I ask the 'Doc' for tri-score, and eating a few of those can get, well, messy...)

Hope your GAD dimishes with age... it can and often does...
...it has with me... how old are you...?

:)

My story

I am almost 19... I do hope it gets better with age-i can't picture myself being 21 and still have this problem... but I learned in Abnormal psychology anxiety disorders Start in adolescence. It started when i was 16...after a major depressive episode lasting a month (i blame paxil mainly-yes, for CAUSING MORE depression. downregulation or something. i cannot tolerate SSRIs).

My story: I think starting benzos was a bad desicion for my doctor (i was 16)... i was suffering and wanted benzos recreationally as well, but nothing like i would now if i quit xanax and even got past the withdrawl. he did it rite with the dose-rxd me xanax .25 twice a day and serzone. of course over time it went to .5 twice a day then i was taking 2mg a day and became dependent on it.

his plan was to take me off xanax when the serzone worked, the problem was it never did. it made me almost feel like i was on lsd without visuals. crazy thinking... acid and serzone must have similar pharmacology (for me, i think my neuroprogramming is unique), very interesting. i quit serzone cause it kept me up all nite like acid. my doc said this was very odd cause serzone is supposed to cause sedation.

he told me how to taper down and rxd me neurontin and buspar. buspar caused adverse reactions but with odd euphoria at times, so i quit. neurontin is weak but had similar anxiety releiving properties to benzos, till i got tolerance to it. then i discovered overseas pharms, got back on benzos and was happy to be back.

That sums it up... benzos are the only thing that relieves anxiety except alcohol and the G's. And maybe depakote. My doc is now going to Rx me zyprexa, hopefully i can get away from the evil friendly benzos.

Stay away from long term benzo use if u can. try all other meds first (ssri's, buspar,serzone...etc) even tho they all failed miserably for me often making me worse.

If you ask me i would say stay away from xanax and beznos, not because they're that dangerous but simply because number one, they're very boring even when your on them and number two they are quite addictive. So stay away from them because you got nothing to loose. Mabye if your one of those with anxiety and really could use it but for most, it's not worth anything the high is dirty and nothing even interesting let alone special. Benzos are nothing like opiates btw in case that what you think ther're like, they're like the bad effects of opiates plus extra body load/heavyness. You feel way more uncoordinated on benzos and if you even sit down on a couch you'll fall asleep and wake up the next day. They really suck in my opinion, they're too confusion orianted and too much uncoordination not what I enojoy at all. Don't waste your time with benzos

I am prescribed .50 mg & I get really tired on just one. I wish it didn't affect me like that so I could take them during the day & not be so "high strung". Any good suggestions for something that would solve that problem???

Yeah I agree with the munchies thing... does anyone know why benzo's cause them? When me and my friends eat xanax we usually end up going to a fast food place and blowing like 10 bucks each.
