I actually don't know the generic name (Gaviscon is a brand) but I THINK when I've been given it in hospital they've just called it "Peptac Liquid"?

So, it actually says on the info sheet that comes with my Gabapentin do NOT take Gaviscon within 2 hours before or after taking Gabapentin because it reduced stomach acidity enough to make the Gabapentin less effective....so surely following that logic, it should reduce stomach acidity enough to make opioids MORE effective?

I double checked because you just made me doubt my year long conviction that gaviscon is one of those antacida that DON'T contain aluminum - and it doesn't. At least not in Germany

I just checked and mine doesn't either (UK).
But the FDA in America (where I assume they live) is MUCH more lax than what we have in Europe/

Wait, I might be way off here, but isn't aluminium (I REFUSE to call it "aluminum" :P) a heavy metal?? Like, so ingesting it could cause neurological and muscular issues?

Forgive the typo 🙏. But yes. It's toxic in higher doses, that's why ingesting SOME antacids too often might lead to some level of poisoning ( which is why I'm picky about which one I take)
