First of all I do not believe psychoactive compounds such as LSD, psilocybin, mescaline etc causes long term psychosis associated with schizophrenia or other thought disorder mental illnesses.
Instead, I believe psychedelic substances may be the solution for treating and possibly curing brain disorders as these. Unfortunately, due to the nature of psychosis associated with schizophrenia research in this area is virtually nonexistent due to a lack of information regarding psychosis.
Psychosis is not necessarily a bad thing unlike symptoms associated with schizophrenia that are misconstrued to include all types of psychosis.
Psychosis needs further research to understand the difference between schizophrenia symptoms and psychosis associated with psychedelic substances. Furthermore included in psychedelic research should allow testing for people with schizophrenia and a history of psychosis associated with thought disorders.
