Jeez, i want US docters. I had 5 teeth pulled out, and they told me to sleep it off and take some aspirin.
Bah. Sedation injection and local anasthetic (which thanks to the quality of british dentists was placed in the wrong place) - Ah, the pain... The joy of waking up with a mouthful of blood.
You lucky sods. :p
Speaking to someone on msn - he said he was given vicodine and penecilin to ward off infection.
 
My last dentist was a complete asshole. When he made it clear to me that he was going to drill 3 holes in my teeth, I asked if any anasthetic would be necessary. This was the first time I've had to drill.
He asked me if a was a complete pussy and I was quite stunned so I let him drill two holes.
ARGH! it hurt like a "#¤@%&¤
Next session I had to persuade him to give me some anasthetics. After this I changed dentist and found a excellent dentist which I now trust.
Ps. If you hate to drill holes in your teeth bring your walkman with you to the dentist and then you don't have to listen to that sound that the drill makes. Ds.
 
I had IV sedation.
IV versed and fentanyl before.
Nitrous oxide and novacaine for the procedure.
Walked out with 20 percocets.
 
Now thats a cool Dentist! As far as Valium for pain,because of this misinformation,that makes "The Bluelight" even more valuable as a beacon of true information and wisdom,as far as drugs go!
 
i had 3 impacted wisdom teeth removed by an oral surgeon about two years ago. I received 5 different shots. I can't believe I actually received the amount of drugs it took to knock me out, but after shot #4 the oral surgeon was complaining i was hard to knock out and asked me if I used street drugs. I dont remember what I told him. He gave me Versed, which didn't do anything, so he gave me more versed, which didn't do anything again, so he gave me two shots of valium, same scenario and that fucked me up but i was still awake. lastly, he gave me a shot of ketamine. i guess i finally went out after that. i do remember briefly waking up during the surgery and yelling. i wasn't in pain, so i dont know why i was yelling. i passed back out and the next thing i remember was my dad carrying me out to the car. i got 20 5/500 vicodin for after the surgery
 
I just had a molar pulled a week ago. If you are just getting one removed that is above the gum, they will probably numb your mouth and just pull it. If more than one is being removed or it is below the gums, you'll be knocked out.
I was given 20 Vicodan 750mg. I ended up having a allergic reaction to them so I went back and was given Demorol. I only took 2 at the recommend dosage and out of it for 24hrs. It's really painful to have teeth removed, so I would ask for demerol.
Just try to get the best!!!

First of all, the vikes were 7.5 mg, 750 mg of hydro would kill you. Also, if you just "ask for demerol", you will most likely be labeled a drug seeker and will get motrin 800.

IV sedation

Generally when you are getting wisdom teeth pulled by an oral surgeon you are given a sedation coined MAC or monitored anesthesia care. It generally consists of versed, fentanyl, and a sedative hypnotic alkylphenol like propofol or sometimes especially oral surgeons prefer to use the older barbituates. The versed is a potent benzodiazapine that has amnesia producing effects far greater than most benzos even at high doses. With the versed you'll think you were asleep before you really were. Its the low doses of the barbs or alkylphenols that area actually putting you to sleep, with a very low dose of fentanyl to slow down nociceptive centers in the CNS. Of course M.D.s can substitute whatever drug they want, but this is the most commonly used coctail.
 
Well, I got four impacted wisdom teeth out today, and I was given general anaesthetic. This was the first time I'd ever recieved it as an adult.

What an expierience. Right before I fell out I felt as though I was experiencing the illusionary effects of LSD. The ceiling was doing the classic breathing thing and the wall was swirling. Suddenly I was waking up. The ceiling was still breathing and I was led into a waiting room.

Now, I wonder what caused this strange effect. I specifically asked that no ketamine be used, as I've had a bad expierience with it and no longer feel comfortable taking it. Neither the benzos, nor the fent should have caused these effects. Anyone have any ideas/hypotheses?

P.S. That bastard doc only gave me 16 vicoprofins. Bastard. :P
 
Get knocked out its much better... i was knocked out and walked out with 15 750mg vikes...not enough for my pain considering they had to dig into my jaw bone to try to get the roots out and couldnt even get em all...thank god i had som 40mg oc's and 5 viles of ketamine....it saved my life.
 
Man definatly get put out because when You wake up your all fucked up it's fun.I got all four of mine and they gave me vikes.They somtimes didn't even help the pain much but I would also smoke weed to help.

The shots I belive would be ahh fuck whats that stuff they use to make your gums numb.I fucking forget.Can't figure out why though.Oh ya must be all that hash and weed I've smoked today.
 
mpbroman said it best ... you are likely to get Versed (a benzo), Fentanyl (or some other pain killer such as demerol, possibly both) then any other number of drugs.... definitly go for the IV sedation, fuck a local ..

But wait? isn't this like the 4,700ththread we have on wisdom teeth extractions andthe drugs asscoiatedwith them? please, UTFSE!
