Hey guys, well I have had my wisdom teeth causing me grief for a few months now and I've notice that my bottom ones are coming in diagonal and more problematic, my top ones are coming through sideways.

Problem here, apart from the obvious, is I have never had a filling or in fact anything done to my teeth, having perfect straight healthy teeth as I do.

I am totally and irrationally terrified of the dentist and the thought of needles in the mouth, teeth being pulled... Eh well it is enough too put me in a cold sweat. I keep putting off going to get them checked out as it sends me into the depths of panic. My last appointment I made to have them checked I skipped because I had a panic attack...

The obvious solution here is Benzo's. Sadly, most of you guys know my history of extensive Benzo abuse, dependency and withdrawal seizures... So what would be a normal solution for most kinda also frightens me...

What I'm wondering is how the whole procedure goes down... I have heard of some people having them taken out in the dentists chair and others in the hospital. What kind of anaesthetics are used and what sort of pain relief is given at the time and afterwards?

If my dentist suggests doing it in the chair... Well I'll probably run... Can you request to have them pulled in the hospital?

My last question is of course pain relief. I've heard it's pretty bad and am curious as to peoples experience with pain prescriptions post-op. I mean if I get codeine and IPAP 30/500 i'm going to be pretty screwed considering my tolerance. Do I mention this, or just hope to god I get at least something in the ball park of 5mg oxycodone (endone) pills.

Anyway any opinions are more than welcome, maybe you guys can help me get through my irrational fear so that I can do this with minimal stress as I am expecting only panic attacks to come.

Perhaps a low dose methoxetamine with its anxiolytic properties could help?

Love, peace and soul brothers and sisters,
Trip.

I'm supposed to be getting mine out some time in the near future as well. I've got one coming in sideways too, like you, but mine is my bottom left tooth. I'm not sure what exactly they do, but I already know I'm getting full sedation for mine. Fuck being awake for that. My mom is a dental hygienist, and she has always had me get Nitrous oxide for every dental procedure I've ever had as well as novacaine (or whatever the fuck they use now), and the Nitrous doesn't do it for me anymore. I still feel them using that goddamn drill every time. I know nothing of how things go over there in AU, but in the US, people normally get vicodin or percocets. I'm hoping for percs for mine because I have that same issue lol. Dunno how you could over come the anxiety thing. You could take a few shots of whiskey and when they smell it on your breath just let them know it was the only way you could deal with the appt without have a full-on panic attack lol.

Good luck to ya trip!

Here in France, dentists don't give us narcotics, even milder ones (well we have codeine OTC...), but the procedure includes lidocaine and its derivatives.

I'm like you, Trip, I'm procrastinating my dental check... I don't know about MXE, never did the stuff. But the idea of a bad MXE trip during a dentist appointment seems quite terrifying, tbh.

You don't see a dentist for wisdom teeth extraction normally. Most of the time you see dental surgeons, especially in cases where the teeth are coming in very awkwardly.

Oh I'm not talking about enough to make me trip. But you know those fuzzy warm anxiolytic low dose MXE experiences? I was thinking of one of them.

I can only imagine the horror though if I dosed too much, so I may skip trying this.

Eh well I hope I can get at least 5mg oxy's. Though with australia as it is, so strict on pain killers I think i'm dreaming here.

Hmmmm the thing about nitrous oxide is that I have abused it so fucking much. Having had access to stolen dental tanks and my local supermarket being the cheapest nang store in melbourne when I lived there. I imagine it'd take a fuckload to put me out. And I want to be lights out K-o'd when they rip them out...

I got Tylenol #3's for my procedure. They did the trick, PERFECTLY. But, I was 100% opiate naive at the time.

I've heard of people getting Percocets for this. Also, my ex-girlfriend got Demerol partnered with T3's, lol, o.O.

Valium, wait 20 minutes, pop opiate, PROFIT. Valium lasts so long, keep you chilled out not caring even if the ope wears off.

BTW... I live in Canada, though, lol.

Well I may have quit benzo's 3 months ago. But i'm not sure how much my tolerance will have gone down from a daily regimen of 2mg fluntrazepam, 120mg valium and 12mg xanax daily...

Some days I'd take around a gram of valium...

SO not wanting to get back into benzos and not sure how effective they'll be.

I think tylenol #3 is all I can expect also in Australia. Which is going to be hell. I'll probably end up doing heroin for the pain.

I'll just delete this for HR purposes and to preserve the life of this thread :).

I'd rather it didn't have to come to that. I've been using barely at all over the last three months.

I have access to MS contins on the street, but thats about all and they are stupidly expensive for the high MG ones.

i dont know about europe, but in the US dentists prescribe hydrocodone/apap or oxycodone/apap after removing someone's wisdom teeth. in addition, dentists use local anesthetics 100% of the time, and offer nitrous to calm the nerves.

when i go, i take 100-200mgs DXM before the visit and smoke some weed. i always ask for the highest level of nitrous too.

I'll tell you what happened with mine:

I arrived at the oral surgery place, they give me a 5mg diazepam (Valium). The nurse that gives it to me is very clear as to what the purpose of this pill is (this is also the first time I've ever taken benzos, I was 18 at the time). After 20 or so minutes, once they're sure the Valium is working, they hook me up to IV fentanyl/midazolam/whatever else (I remember seeing the names of these drugs on the paperwork) and proceed to give me nitrous oxide (laughing gas)....after that, I'm out. I remember waking up during the procedure and realizing my face was numb, so its possible I was given some lidocaine or something similar.

Walked out of there with a 60x 5/500 Vicodin + 30x 800mg ibuprofen script. The rest, as they say, is history...

Well, it hurts for at least a week after the surgery, be aware ;)

Oh I am well aware of this, the pain isn't stressing me too much. It's the sheer extreme anxiety/panic in actually having it done. I don't want to know it happened till after.

See, this is the kind of experience I want... IV fent and midaz with Nos would have me sorted ha.

As well as the vicodin script. I'd be happy with this result. I am far from thinking I will have it this good in Aus though.

^From what I can gather (speaking to other people - granted these are other people from the U.S. and the same part of the U.S. as me), I was pretty lucky when it comes to what scripts I got after the procedure. Most people got 20 Percocets or 30 Tylenol 3's. It really depends on the doctor. My procedure was pretty painful and I needed all 60 of those Vicodins, however.

If you're indeed in that much pain, they should prescribe you what you need. :) "Should" being the operative word...

Hopefully they'll give you midazolam or maybe one of the short acting barbs for the procedure...so you won't remember the vast majority of it. :)
