Winter appreciation thread

+ a billion more. Whats even worse is sweating constantly through winter, like it isn't cold enough without clamy hands and soaking wet socks.

Mrs roar insisted on a new doona this year, and now it's almost too warm in bed. Sure is nice when I get to laze in bed, in the mornings, though.

Mmmm, frosty mornings!
 
I dont mind summer, but summer in WA is fucked.. the heat is totally unbearable and dry, it's so hot for so long that the soil turns to dust, it's too hot to even breathe.. let alone moving.

I love winter though! <3

I don't think i could complain about the cold unless i went to Russia in winter.. when i was waiting for a crossover flight to London late last year, i was next to the gate for Moscow where they announced a record drop in temperature in some parts of Russia to -58C.. seriously, what the fuck.
 
I have Raynauds and when it is around 10C here my hands start to go blue and numb.. I think anything below zero would actually be extremely hazardous to my health.
 
I much prefer the cold. I think its easier to get warm than it is to cool down. Being all sweaty and sticking to things doesn't do it for me. Winter appreciation! :D
 
As much as i love snuggling up on the couch on a rainy day, i would gladly trade it for unfrozen hands and cheaper electricity bills. 5 weeks to go!

It's not really been that cold here in Sydney this year. I want to move somewhere where it gets PROPER cold! Not this half-arsed low-teens cold :p

Cheaper electricity? I imagine people in warmer places simply turn off their air conditioners in winter :p I'd assume cooling costs more than heating?

That's providing you have air conditioning! But when it's warm i like to be out and about doing things so bills tend to minimise.
 
I love the cold when I'm in the snow. Otherwise its a nuisance.

But I love my hoodies and beanies:)

And snowboarding when I can afford it. I ride an Allian 156 that I've had for a few years and have clocked up a fair few hours on it. Its almost a part of me!! rips through pow and goes good through the park too.

Yeah hopefully I'll be able to get to the snow this year. It's like the best season in 11 years so it's too good to miss!!

I find it hard to justify the cost to go in Australia.
I have done two seasons in Whistler which was epic snow. Also done a month each on seperate occasions in Japan.

Japan was only about $50 a day for a lift pass and it snowed almost everynight. Powder was knee to shoulder deep just off the groomed runs. We could catch the highest chair up Happo duck under the rope and come straight back under the chair and it was powder all day. None of the Japanase go "out of bounds".

How Perisher can charge over $100 a bucks a day? I know the season is shorter and less people but still...... After riding overseas Persiher is a let down even on a record season.

On that note actually, I am hoping to go to Niseko in February either 2012 or 2013. My parents have been a few times and insist that I go :)
Did you go there or somewhere else?
