Winter appreciation thread

I love summer - but nothing above low 30s. I love Melbourne Summers so much more than Brisbane - the humidity is far less.

Having said that, give me a brisbane winter ANY DAY - I freaking hate being cold all the time - i'm just thankful for central heating in our house.

Yeh winter is the only time of year I'm comfortable with the heat & humidity here. Much <3 for winter: crumptes with honey, hot cocoa, snuggling in blankets on cold mornings... ahhh bliss!!!!

(for the sake of my romantic views of this fine season I'll selectively ignore all childhood memories pertaining to chopping firewood in the frost, associated blisters, frozen water pipes, colds, flus, etc etc)

Yeh I'm seriously considering a trip around Europe in the next few years and will be checking out certain Scandinavian countries where most people speak English as potential places to move :) Canada has always appealed to me too... but it's too close to the USA for comfort :) :D =D %)

I'm an underweight guy with a high metabolism so i loathe the Sydney wet and cold winters.

AUSTRALIA IS ABOUT SUMMER NOT WINTER.

FECK ORF WINTER!!!!

Winter in North QLD is absolutely beautiful! :D

It's generally too windy to do a lot of fishing tho :\

The ocean seems to be so much glassier here in winter. There seems to be so many more picture perfect beach days. If it werent so fucken cold it would be great...

Also the light seems to have a different quality about it kind of soft and clear. As bad as the lack of rain is the rainless winter days are awesome. Makes me want to move closer to the desert.

Klue you have inspired me to get some bonfire action on again soon.

^ Cool :) It's been a bit discouraging the last week or so because we have had very clear nights and it's been so nippy. I have been collecting wood though so I'm all set to go, just need to rug up and get out there.

It's awesome, I've got two lounge chairs, a grill and a hotplate, a couple of billies and two massive timber seats out there. It's great when you've got some company to have a few beers and cook out there. I wish I could do it more often.

^^ Oh mate I wanna join you!!! That sounds perfect! <3

Coldest day of the year so far here in Sydney, absolutely loving it :)

I doubt she'll see this, but the one and only ocean knitted me 2 gorgeous scarves and mailed them to me from the Pacific NorthWest, and I have been putting them to good use this Winter already. They are so soft and warm <3

I don't know if that's how I will word it this year, no finally. I like it, but don't love. Hopefully the fishing will be good this year and I will finally get a few Taylor, I've been chasing them for years now.

If I loved having a campfire in my backyard in the warmer months, you recon I would at this time of year! But, have only had a few recently :)

Nice one buddy. I was catching nothing but bream and flatties where i am for a while.
Lately, the tailor are everywhere; the love the mullet.

Cathing decent flatties everywhere, but the tailor I'm starting get are a littler bigger than what you have posted; will have to remember the camera tomorrow night.

Oh yea.......... LOVING WINTER right now

You lucky fuckers, I haven't been fishing in ages. But I'm very pleased to say I got 2 spanish mackerel last time I got out to the reef in April :D

Even tho April is not technically winter :p

Niiiiice! That would be around the 40cm mark, well done :)

I got a 29cm Bream tonight, pretty happy. Close to the best Bream I've ever caught I'd say.

I was going to continue talking about taylor, but I think I'll start a fishing thread :)

I'd have to say I truly love winter!

Snuggling up in a warm house with the sound of rain outside...

Tuna fishing on the continental shelf off SW Vic and Salmon fishing off the beach...

Barely breaking a sweat while dancing your ass off at outdoor festivals...

Also...

Of course you do, that's because you're awesome ;) =D

DAMN!!! I have to say this is one of my FAVOURITE aspects of Winter!! %)

Did someone say cosy?! <3

Please note: ocean made me this scarf! It is truly beautiful. So incredibly soft and warm and luscious. It sits perfectly around my neck, I've had it on ALL day <3

So many reasons why I love Winter :)

I think the weather in Sydney the last few days has been perfect.

Wait until you head north. Summer is far too hot in Queensland, but I have chipped ice of my windscreen far too many times to ever complain about Summer. Come May it is farken perfect here, warm blue sky days followed by cool clear evenings, with the chance of rain about 5%.

Looking forward to sitting around a campfire next weekend with the cosmos blazing above me and hot chocolate with marshmellows.

I'm enjoying winter this year, it doesn't feel that cold yet.

Even on Saturday night when I was out at a festival I wasn't cold, as long as you rug up it's not that bad.

Really really hope I can do a winter in Europe... now thats cold! :D
