I prefer alcohol.
It's cheaper, easier to get, more social, less stigmatized and, while very addictive, isn't addictive in the same way for me. It doesn't take a lot of will-power to follow a week of heavy drinking with a week of little/no drinking, whereas with opioids (and benzos, coke, amp), it's much harder to control my tendency towards addiction.
And I don't really need something I can hide from people, as I don't go to work/etc. intoxicated.
I like opiates as an occasional treat, but they're certainly not my daily DOC like alcohol and marijuana.
