i been away for a while and dont see the section where there was the northeast n. america centered area anymore so whever this thread should go it should get moved there if it has to be.

this aint even so much about drugs even though its related.

Just wonderin if anyone else ever noticed that Jersey seems to have a lot of fuckin ghetto areas for such a small state.

ASSbury park
Atlantic city
irvington
jersey city
paterson
camden
trenton
passaic
newark, also known as hell on earth maybe purgatory

and then you got the like half-ghettos, places that in 10-15 years will go to shit too and it seems out of proportion you know? and then you got new york and philly right outside, maybe like a 5 minute at most distance from some places in jersey, and you got a whole bigass list of places to buy drugs ya know 8( i dont know the other states so well cause lived here all my life. i know other states got some nasty ghettos in them but seems awfully concentrated up here in NJ far as the amount we got and the size of the state. what yall think?

Welcome back, and yeah, we've re-arranged the place while you where gone. Now all the events you used to see are in N&SAmerican Events, the type of stuff you are discussing here has been split out of those old regional events forums, and now resides in N&SAmerican Socail (where I'll move this in a second).

As for NJ, it may have a lot of ghettotastic places, but it also has a lot of really cool...well, maybe not cool, but at least not ghetto...places ;). It wasn't until I actually went there that I understood how it got it's name 'The Garden State'. Yeah, Neward sucks ass and has a bad rep for a good reason, but there are a lot of places scattered around the state that are more rural (hence, the farming industry leading to the state logo) if you are into that. It has a lot of coastline, and while some coastal cities are run down, there are a lot of nice/clean/safe communities as well. Atlantic City can be viewed both ways - for those that know of the seedy side, yeah, it can be viewed as a drug haven and a shithole, but for a lot of tourists and retirees, it's a friggen wonderland - NJ version of Disney. It comes back to what you know about a place and what you are looking for. There are good and bad parts of every town, you just have to learn to find the good ones in addition to the bad ones. Hell, I'll be you there are some people that don't think about the drug or other bad aspects of a town like Newark and love the place, thinking it is great. Depends on your point of view.

LOL @ that being "so many ghettos"... have you seen how large NJ is compared to those small towns? Have you noticed that half of those towns have a small "ghetto" area but the rest is not? AC is a tourist area not a ghetto.. lol and did you notice the rest of nj is beach and farmland?

You love ghetto chic enough to have adopted a sassy street vernacular for projection here on a drug message board.

You are very hip and edgy.

But i guess i aint hip and edgy enough to cut down people i dont know cause i judged them too quick, brotha.
Oh lawdy im 'bout to cry cause not havin the respect of some fool i never saw before is gonna weigh on me heavy for real.
you dont know me so back the fuck off

You know, I used the thumbs up icon for a reason.

Please make a note of the icon at the top of this post.

So is lacey, she just isn't getting much support for her view because it appears limited by not seeing the big picture of NJ nor having lived elsewhere so she can have some comparison.

Lacey, you are right, Noodle doesn't know you, but you don't know him either, so you wouldn't know the sense of humour in his statement. The rest of us recognize his pointing out of your criticism of ghetto-ism with your use of ghetto phrasing and way of talking...kind of ironic, don't you think?

But back to your point. If I hadn't seen other areas of NJ or other parts of the US, and I was used to only looking at the 'ghetto' areas of the towns I do visit...yeah, I'd think NJ was awfully ghetto myself. But the truth is, there is a lot more to NJ than you have had the chance to see yet. Once you get a car, take a trip (without any drug intentions) and just drive....check out what your state has to offer beyond the ghetto scenes. You might be suprised.

If I only have a hammer, every problem is a nail. If I only look at ghettos, I only see ghettos. If I open my mind and see all that is around, the possibilities are limitless and the offering from the world is overwhelming in its variety.

Nah what i was sayin wasnt that NJ is all ghetto, but that to me it seems like for a little state theres a whole lot of nasty places in here. theres parts i never saw but ive been through the north and south and most of central, the spots i never made it to yet are like the south central, like where all the farms are at (i hear). But what ive seen is mostly, like livin around and in not just passin through, is alot of paterson then when i moved up to sussex county where its all just beat smalltowns with white crackheads. some nice ass scenery up here tho.

ill just leave that to rest where its restin. Im not criticizing anything with the way i talk believe me if you called me up on the phone thats what you'd hear. I see the mass stupidity in most of the hip hop culture right now but am i gonna change the way i talk because they some FOOLS who talk the same way? Heeeeelllll NO! But dont worry now you wont see me wavin no GLOCK talkin about how many niggas i killed becuse thats 1. frontin and 2. thats some ignorant shit. i understand you get a lot of freaky little kids who come in like CONNETICUT, MUTHAFUCKAZZZ!! and really playin around. Im aware. however thats not me, what you see is me, im doin my thang. so now its clear, and dont have to worry about hearin it.
And Yo noodle sorry we got that mix up between us.

But that Bi KaNd*E* RaVeR needs to shut the fuck up because thas some unnecessary bullshit you dont even know what you talking about.

Aight now its over, the important part's at the top anyway with what i was sayin that was actually realated to the topic. OK now we straight let it all go by and we can chill and talk about the question at hand and not get all up in each others faces cause of misunderstandings.

lacey, could you please refrain from telling people to 'shut the fuck up,' 'back the fuck off' etc. thanks. :)

You asked a question and when i replied for you to clarify you tell me to 'shut the fuck up'? Grow up... you didn't answer my questions nor do you seem to have the intelligence to continue this conversation.

I have been to almost all 50 states, and have lived all over nJ for 10 years. For anyone to say that nj is a small state or entirely "ghetto" is just hysterical. You obviously have no knowledge of your state or it's history. You know nothing about what it has to offer.... and you are far too ignorant and "ghetto" yourself to even educate.

Dont inquire unless you are willing to converse.

why don't you take a "history of nj" course that many schools have to offer? or pick up a few books on the history of nj that they have in the library (if you can even read anything besides ebonics).. and check those out and school yourself.

what a waste of time.

have a nice day

You forgot Elizabeth, West Orange, New Brunswick... and there's a lot of white trash in south jersey (Gloucester City)..

The beauty about NJ is its diversity... you can be in Deal, and jog for 5 minutes, and you're in Asbury Park. It's basically all because of population density.. and we also have good welfare if you're so inclined to have Uncle Sam pick up the check... so much of NJ is night and day..

What she really means is 'why does NJ have so many dopespots per square feet?'

I dunno.. close proximity to NYC.. can't really tell you... we have the most toxic dump sites out of all the states (for such a SMALL state).. maybe we're programmed to poison ourselves...

anybody who doesn't agree with me can SHUT THE FUCK UP

yeah, okay, jersey has its share of nasty places but we do definately have lots of beautiful ones too. a childhood in the Boy Scouts showed me a lot of them!

anyways, i ain't looking for those right now... i just moved back to NJ after almost a decade in Ohio and deep in its party scene - so please, for the love of dog, someone from Jerz please tell me what there is to do out here, electonic music-wise.

thanks!

Ahhh, good ol' Asbury.

Lived next to it for 19 years, a lot of scum comes over those bridges.

yeah... jersey isn't *small* and while i spent most of my time in Newark (FUCKING SLUMS, ALLLLL OF IT!) the neighborhood i lived in (not really lived, just slept) was super middle-american, nice with yards and everything as was like, everything south of it (red bank, etc). And in taking the train to philly I saw that most of it really is farmland, much like the middle of ohio with little towns all along the way. (edison, etc)

In summation-
Jersey = not small at ALL
Jersey = mostly green areas and coast
Jersey = where it's bad, it's REALLY bad.
