Why is drug use a thing of males!?

I believe that risk-taking behaviors, maybe a factor, too. The fear of losing control is different. Females tend to fear it way more. E.g. getting excessive drunk in public.
Most females i know, try to avoid it. Some fear they could be abused, if they pass out. Others just think, its not good looking - people could chat about it....
For a lot more males its not such a big deal. Less fear of getting abused. Lot of males find it "cool" to get wasted in public.

Are any of you women? Or am I the only one who has posted in this thread so far?

Lol. Need another female to back me up here.. Sure, women use drugs as much as men do on average but in some places women are shamed/stigmatized for it more.

"She uses drugs, she's an unfit mother"

"What a slut! I heard she has sex for crack"

"Can you believe she uses needles? Disgusting! Her husband should leave her"

Of course this isn't a deterrent for all women but for some it really is. Not to mention women get addicted to drugs/alcohol more easily due to physiological differences, so on the flip side.. Women might use drugs even more than men if it weren't for this.

Also, the post I made concerning how they don't want addiction to ruin their looks. I'm not pulling this stuff out of my ass.. It came straight from the mouths of women who do not use drugs.

<-- Another woman here, there's quite a few of us on BL, just a lot more men, which is fairly consistent with the number of real life drug users I know in at least a casual capacity. Plenty of women, one of my best friends is an IV heroin addict, extremely smart, but I know more men proportionally. I think all the reasons, risk taking, appearance, socialization, social pressures and stigmas, play a role in it. Lots of small things leaning towards more men than women.

I definitely do get concerned about how my drug use, particularly smoking, will affect my appearance. I feel like I shouldn't, like it's shallow, but I can't deny I do. It's definitely the case that women have more pressure to look attractive than men do. But for a lot of my life I truly didn't expect to live all that long, and my self worth was total shit, so I didn't care as much as I probably should have, And when you feel so ugly and unwanted on the inside it can seriously demotivate your attempts to take care of yourself.

Women are more likely to degrade themselves to get a fix though. I've been offered "free" drugs for a blowjob or a fuck... I'm sure it happens to men too but less often.

I've been offered shit like drugs and money for sexual favors too, I suspect men are propositioned a lot less. I think just getting propositioned like that more often makes it more likely that at some point you'll be offered that option when you're really desperate, and once you do it, I assume it's much more likely you'll do it again (I've never accepted offers like that). Since you can't say anymore you wouldn't do something like that, you've done it before now, what difference does doing it again make compared to doing it the first time? Also, the vast vast majority of 'customers' offering money or drugs for sex are men, and most men are straight.

Anyone who's really bored (or interested in human abysses) should look into some pick-up artist community board once. It's just golden!

No, really disturbing too. But it's a hard reality - people are actually believing in this shit, paying to listen lectures where they 'learn' how to be a 'true male' and all that ..

God I hate that shit, it's truly disgusting and abhorrent to me. Men who do that shit rate extremely low in my standards. It's hard to get a whole lot lower. I hate fake people to begin with and pick up artistry is nothing but fake. It rates about as far away from my idea of what makes a man attractive to me as you can get.

From anecdotal evidence I would have to say that it is less skewed than you suggest (at least in my situation); I'd say usage is very even.

I have no idea if men use drugs more than women. A brief (very brief, I didn't check for any obvious flaws in the data I was looking at) look at UK statistics suggest they do.

Who knows. Anything we have at this point is speculation.

I'd be interested to break the demographics down a bit further and see if there's anything in that (whether there's a particular demographic or drug where more women use than men).

Also, there probably are more men than women on this forum, but given that it's easy to see a genderless username and gender it male (I automatically do it), there's probably more women here (myself included) than you'd expect.

I think the notion that women are more likely to try to hide it more fiercely is true. IME its almost the same ratio. Women are much more coy and closed about it, be it the society and how we are supposed to perceive them that makes them more closed off about it or their character. Lie more, claim they only use here and there or whatever even though I find that women usually fall much faster and deeper than guys. Guys on the other hand either dont wanna talk or dont give a sh+t and are open about it. Tho in the end, nobody really wants to talk about it in person.

This is just an observation but alot of the woman drug users i meet are prescribed either benzos for anxiety or amphetamines for college and end up just abusing their scripts, which men do too but most woman dont feel safe doing things that come with getting drugs off the "streets"..most dealers are guys and theres always some fear of assault when a woman has to deal with a man that they dont trust fully

I think alot of it's to do with the fact that men don't talk about their problems as much as women and aren't encouraged to do so for fear of not being 'a man'.

For younger males I think conformity plays a large part and looking 'cool'.

Oddly when opiates were legal women were the majority users cause of 'women's problem's and also the fact that women who drank alcohol were looked down up on. So knocking back Opium/morphine to 'get rid of period pain' was acceptable (Unlike opium smoking/recreational use which were frowned upon.) for women.

for what i perceive, girls like using drugs / getting high as much as guys do, it's pretty unisex... though ime guys do get much more involved in the illegal drug scene (the one tied to criminality) and also participate much more in online forums...

Ever been to a rave? Ever been to a co-ed rehab? Women use drugs just as much as men.

In fact my running crew for sourcing money for dope and scoring said dope after the money was two men and two women.

Societal norms are changing in the states. Women love drugs just as much as men do. I don't know much about the membership to bluelight, but I just assume everyone is asexual till they say otherwise.

One more point and then Ill shut up. Trading sex for drugs or money is not always just a female or gay thing. I traded sex to older women to stay supplied in my mid twenties. Those were some weird, cruel, crazy, yet sometimes wonderful times.

I think it has a lot to do with that (the patriarchic society part)

It's kind of weird but most female drug users don't really know much about drugs aside from the basic stuff, even the ones on bluelight (IME, there are obviously some exceptions).

Women are judged harshly for drug use, and are dumped with childcare. Men have more freedom. Love for their kids either makes them stop using younger, not go as hard...or like me, keep it quiet!

I don't know, I'm a female with an extensive history of drug use, 75% of my friends are women that have used as well, I wouldn't say it's every female, maybe a vast majority.

You can't really put a gender role on drugs, if they're available then anyone can get them. I don't have a problem walking down the street either because I've lived here so long to know that everyone in my neighborhood either smokes pot, does coke, or wants to trip on LSD. It's kinda nice when you're looking for the latter.

I have to agree, though, women get bombarded with children and household duties that half of the time men can't take care of, in turn, they go use. It appears as if it's frowned upon by society for a woman to be a drug addict anyways.

Let's face it a lot of men want a "nice girl", not a junkie. Women are more tolerant of crap men won't put up with. I know many non using women supporting their drug using partners . men either want to save you from your use, or just have fun once they know you use.

Women who are into drugs...I think that's a "turn on" personally, lol. Not "into drugs" in the sense that they're a total junkie addict and can't handle their shit, but...

Ditto, I want a drug using chick who can handle her shit. That's attractive, the whole work hard and party hard type.

.

Spot on manboychef. I've even scored everything from speed ecstasy to heroin off female dealers i've meet through working at nightclubs and for the most part the female dealers were less hassles and more reliable without the hardcore criminal attitude a lot of male dealers give out. Plus go to any NA meeting it's pretty even between the amount of males and females.

As for women and internet message boards i think it's like females and gambling, you see lot's of females of all ages playing slot machines but in ten plus years of betting on sports and horse racing i would have been lucky to seen 5 females placing bets on sports or horse racing. I'm not sure why women just have different interests to men. i'm sure there are fashion blogs that are exclusively filled with female contributors. Also women are a lot more cliquey about who they share information with on line so discussing drugs on bluelight may not be an interest for most but obviously not all females.

In my experience, theres piles of female drug users and piles of female drug addicts, theres no shortage.

It's just proportionally theres a lot more men.

I got that offer from an asshole I had the misfortune of meeting less than a week ago, fuck I hate that shit.
