Why is acid so disconnecting

I have always heard of people talking about taking lsd and being connected to everything and feeling so connected to everything. This is my third time doing it, the first time i did too much i did 5 tabs, and it turned into a disaster. The second time i did 3, it was a fun trip considering i was by myself, but just very disconnecting, and kinda boring. And now i did two strong acid tabs waited for them to fully kick in, wasn't really having fun so added on an ecstasy still not feeling what i want to feel, what exactly do people want to feel from doing acid? if anything it makes me anti social, but does make my sense of perceptions smell touch taste hear intensified.

It sounds like you're not really getting yourself in to a good setting and mindset before taking it. Doing acid at home by yourself would be boring for most people unless you are prepared and have a lot of stuff planned to do, e.g. music, drawing, meditation etc etc. In my experience acid is always best done with a group of friends who you know very well and trust, and that you know you're going to have a good time with. In my opinion you should always have music playing as it makes the trip so much more enjoyable than if there is no music.

As you mentioned, yes, a lot of people find that acid can make them very quiet and introspective (or anti-social, as you said). This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it can create a good introspective flow of thoughts. A lot of the "healing" thinking I've done while tripping has been quite beneficial to my self-perspective and self-esteem, even after the trip has ended.

Also, you don't need a large dose in order to have a good time. I've had a lot of lovely trips on one tab and even just on half a tab.

Lastly, how long ago was the disastrous 5-tab experience?? If it was only recently maybe you should wait for your mind to recouperate a bit before you try and have a good trip again...? Just a thought.

And having said all of that, sometimes some people just don't agree well with acid. If you just don't like it, then, well, maybe it's not for you. Don't try to force the matter. If you don't enjoy it, just find something else to play with :)

^ I agree, I think you are jumping into it too fast, and being by your self can be the MOST mind expanding experience as said above you need to plan things, for me I like to drop a tab or two hit the bong take a nice half hour bath and by the time I'm getting out I feel the acid creeping up, then I put some music on and BAMB! I attempt to draw everything I feel. BTW DON'T do acid in a bath tub or even in the shower VERY dangerous, ESPECIALLY not shrooms they tend to hit you faster.

life5 it can be very disorienting. To me set & setting don't really matter at a certain point. Usually the first times I took acid I would have something planned for the beginning hour or two, but eventually you get distracted and go off doing other stuff.

Then 3-4 hours in, if you took a lot, usually you end up pretty "disconnected" or "dissociated" even. I think "bewildered" is probably my favorite word for it. "Confused" can work as well. A lot of times this can mean laying on the couch or ground staring, or just closing your eyes and watching the patterns.

I agree with these guys that say you are doing too much, but at a the same time you may have gotten as much of a quality acid experience as possible for each of those uses.

By quality I don't mean you had a great time, you just got what the drug has to offer. This would be compared to taking say 5 hits of really weak acid and barely feeling anything, or some bunk shit all together, or having done other drugs to overpower the experience entirely.

Generally I find the best part of the acid trip to be the come up because you have the most control and grasp of reality and understanding of what you are doing. If you don't at least enjoy the come up then acid might not be your thing.

I'd suggest trying it out a music event next time, I think being around a lot of people will help you feel more social. It helps when you can look around and most everyone else has a similar stare in their face and huge pupils to match. If you are tripping around a bunch of sober people it might not be as fun for you because it is hard to relate with sobriety under the influence. Just make sure you don't dose too high and perhaps bring some other goodies if it is a long event (as long as you are not driving home! :P) in case the low dose leaves you wanting more. Remember you can only do acid once per night then tolerance flies through the roof (it remains high for the next few days).

Oh yea what do people want to feel? I think you hit it with the enhanced sensory experiences, but recognize a lot of baggage can come with it. Acid, like most psychedelics, has a dark side and can bite your ass if you don't know what you're doing.

Other times it is not about the sensory experience as it is just getting high or taking your mind to a different or new place, regardless of what the outcome is... part of what is neat about psychedelics is it can be hard to predict what the night will be exactly, so whether good or bad, you know you are in for something fresh.
