Why does weed make my friends nose stuffy?

Every time my friend smokes (this isnt strain/dealer dependant) is nose gets 'stuffy'.I've never heard of this happening to anyone, and i just told him he's weird lol.Anyone know a reason for this?
 
Correct me if i'm wrong, but cannabis kinds of relaxes certain glands that produce mucus, tears, saliva, etc. Since they are relaxed, they produce less mucus than usual, which makes your nose dry.

It happens to me all the time, but I don't have a solution for it, I just smoke more to forget my nose is pissing me off haha. Maybe injecting saline water in your nose would help.

I wrote "all the time" but it happens only sometimes to me. I said dry, but i thought you would make the link between a dry nose and boogers blocking the air path... maybe i'm not making sense either.

Possibly he is not use to how the smoke can sometimes be an irritant to your sinuses
 
Everyone reacts differently, maybe he is allergic or maybe his sinuses are irritated by it.
 
never happened to me. but ill take a guess and say that it could be due to the fact that marijuana is a vasodilator (thats why it makes it easier for guys who smoke it to achieve erection). vasodilation means the blood vessels in your body get dilated (dont worry, its not gonna kill you. it sounds bad, but its not bad at all). most nasal decongestants are vasoCONSTRICTORS and this is a vasoDILATOR. i am guessing that by enlarging the blood vessels in the nose, it can lead to more mucous.
 
Washing your hands after handling it (and before touching your face) seems to help if you're slightly allergic to it.

Does he inhale or exhale through his nose? Whenever I do that with any kind of smoke it fucks my shit all up.
 
I get this sometimes as well, although I cannot really describe it. It is a strange nose feeling that is kinda of like its blocked up kind of like its not in a annoying way. I cant think of any way to better describe it just now but, maybe you get what I mean. I have always exhaled smoke out through both my nose and mouth and think it feels weird to just blow out your mouth. So I think whatevers happening in my nose, is just the smoke irritating it.

Your friends situation could be something kind of the same with smoke going through his inuses by accident or it could be his slightly allergic to something. It might not be strain dependant but does sativa / indica make any difference at all? Probably not but its worth a shot. Being high sometimes make me just feel like I have a blocked up nose even if I dont at all or a little bit of a cold or something.
