They have such a huge share of the market, and it seems like they are literally everywhere around the world.

It couldnt be that hard right, to create a lighter that basically is a similar shape and quality, yet all the others suck.

Do they have patents on the shape and that?

It may be because the Bic lighters are one of the best quality lighters out there for it's price. Not counting the higher priced Zippoes, which is irrelavent to the post concerning Bic lighters.

Its not about the shape, its about the flint and mechanics. BIC and Clipper ( a spanish brand) are the only one-way lighters i know of, that will work till any gas is gone.

^thats totally subjective. For YOU the shape isnt important. I for one, and many of the people ive bumped into over the years, like the feel of the bic more than any other lighter. Especially if your vaping meth, the feel of the lighter is important.

Yes, the flint and mechanics work well, im just surprised that there is literally those 2 supplying the world.

Whenever i've used cheaper lighters, they generally have plastic construction around the wheel and the flint.
This might be fine for lighting a cigarette, but for smoking cannabis or various other drug-related uses of cigarette lighters, the ones held together with plastic start to melt, and the sparking-wheel comes loose, and the flint (generally held in place by a spring pointing upwards) comes flying out, or gets dislodged.

I've never had this happen with a bic, because they're metal - no matter how long you hold a flame burning for - so they are the only lighter i ever buy. I don't tend to go in for "brand loyalty" - but bic lighters are just straight-out reliable.
As mentioned above, they work until the gas runs out, which is more than i can say for any other type of lighter i've encountered.

they're kinda hard to find...but i've always liked the djeep. here's what they look like:

Is it maybe cause there dominating shelf appearances more then the other brands easily... Own enough of the market trade to control it

I like adjustable flame lighters which can be modified. Bic are great for ciggies and bongs but i prefer other lighters for other things.

I love my jetties but they are not made for idiots so they need some kind of lighter easier to adjust its settings

According to that website I posted above, they actually make adjustable BICs... maybe stores just don't stock them anymore?

Bics are just the most dependable brand for disposable lighters, their sold everywhere. Plus after having the the wheel pop up and hit my cooker full of h I never bought the cheap brands again

they're the best execution of a simple thing. highest quality plastic and 2 dollars is easily palatable when 1 dollar options dont even work right. plus when i dont lose my lighter (ive managed to kill one by myself, believe it or not) they hold butane for the better part of a year.

i only buy bic razors to shave with and don't even know any other brand of razor other than gillette and fuck spending that much on a disposable grooming implement.

^fuck buying disposable shavers at all. I bought a safety razor when I was like 17 and I've been so happy with it. One $20 handle will last me the rest of my life if I don't lose it. Blades are like 20 cents each
