You can get high off benzodiazepines, people are doing so right this very moment all over the world. They're one of my favourite types of recreational drugs and that goes for many other people too. Some people however don't find the feeling of certain types of benzos (or all types of benzos) enjoyable. Benzodiazepines work in a similar way to other drugs of abuse like alcohol, qualones, phenibut etc - however often they can be quite subtle in their effects and so some people only enjoy them in combinations or don't enjoy them at all as a result of this.
Different benzodiazepines bind to different GABA subunits in different amounts and each of these subunits when bound to produces different effects, for example the a1 subunit produces the most sedation of all the subunits along with anti-convulsant effects (though all of the subunits produce this effect to some extent), while subunits a2 and a3 are more responsible for anxiety reducing "lightening up" and loosening up of social inhibitions.
People with anxiety, depression, stress, or who've experienced a lot of any of those in their lives get very enjoyable highs from ben
zos selective for a2 and a3 subunits, and anxiolytic benzos like Diazepam
produce great highs for them -
while someone who has never had any anxiety or stress issues might find they just get muscle relaxation and nothing more.
a1 selective benzodiazepines on the other hand are more likely to produce euphoria in the general population, things like Flunitrazepam, Temazepam, Midazolam - the benzodiazepines that are k
nown for being euphoric even to people who generally don't enjoy benzos all that much. They're also very popular among opiate users because the combination produces more potentiation than combining with anxiolytic benzos does (this is a dangerous combination to anyone who isn't already aware, just thoughad t

Now to answer the original poster:
Anyway my personal experience with Clonazepam was that it was very strong when I had zero tolerance to benzodiazepines, very very strong in fact, and 0.5mg had me melting into my chair, 1mg had me so tired I had trouble keeping my
eyes open, and 2mg certainly knocked me out every time - and it was always very pleasurable. Ever since I got a tolerance to benzos though even taking 6, 8 or even 10mg doesn't do anything but make me tired, and even then only a little. With tolerance I found Alprazolam did little for me too. It's worth noting that my tolerance was built up by using Clonazepam just as yours was - so it's likely Alprazolam has similar binding affinities for the different GABA subunits to Clonazepam, and this is why you're getting little/no effects from it - either that or you simply have a very high tolerance to all benzos at this point.
If it's the former, benzodiazepines like Diazepam might be more preferrable, if it's the latter you should really consider tapering off slowly and giving yourself some time to lower your tolerance again before getting back on benzodiazepines, as if you're not getting good effects until these kind of dosages then you really need to lower your tolerance soon or you're going to run into some real problems.
That said there are other possibilities here too. Firstly there's a lot of fake Xanax going around that looks like the real deal, so if it wasn't sold to you in a blister pack, don't be assured that it's actually Alprazolam even if it looks identical to the real thing, it could be something else, and the dosages in the fake pills (regardless of what's in them) vary a lot. Secondly another possibility is the Methadone.
I know that sounds weird, since benzodiazepines potentiate opiates - but that's just it, in my experience that's the way it works, the opiate feel gets stronger, but you don't really feel the benzos much (or at all) you feel a stronger opiate high.
I've taken massive doses of benzos combined with opiates before (again please don't do this it's incredibly risky and could get you killed very easily) and while I'd get a good nod going the benzos didn't seem to "work" in their regular way and I thought there was something wrong with me and that I'd suddenly become tolerant to benzos despite the fact I wasn't using them at all at the time. A few days later I took 1/4 of the same dose of benzos with no opiates and noticed a very strong effect that I wasn't even ready for - it seems the opiates were just blocking out the feel of the benzos.
Just a few things to bear in mind.
