Why do you do psychedelics ?

i was attracted to them by curiosity

my curiosity was even more stimulated when i realized that existed a whole universe that i had so far been unaware of

i had spiritual experiences that i had no idea could exist
and i hope to have them again, but i don't really expect them, i just know it will happen again sometime

but i go in knowing that most time, i will learn something, and that's a motivation

but overall, what makes me want to take psychedelics is that some of them make me feel at home and make me be happy

I'm in love with the feeling of pure wonder and amazement one can experience on acid.

You said it man........Acid is so beautifull and clean.

I usually have a goal for every trip of what i want to accomplish, it is one of the four things that Tim Leary wrote about, posted above. I pick one and go with it. I like to mix things up.

I gave it some more thought and simplified my answer:

Its because I'm a self-conscious bastard and halluciongens are the only drugs that kill that damn, nervous self-consciousness. Alcohol and benzos make it worse for some reason.

If you asked me friday morning I would have said "because I've had a rough week and I want to have some fun"
And now today if you ask me I'd say "it is a way to experience methods of thought you can not obtain by conventional means." This morning I woke up to a new world and spent time in my backyard. It's a beautiful world and if taking psychedelics is involved in getting to here, that's what I'll do once in a while.

i TRIP SO I CAN SEE PATTERNS ON THE WALL AND THEYRE OMG SO COOL.

I enjoy the exciting, new sensations that psychedelics give. I find the insights inspirational. Ever since I started using psychedelics, my view of the world, society, and my relation to it has changed drastically. My drug 'problem' has all but disappeared, a feat that I do not attribute 100% to psychedelics, although I feel that psychedelics helped me reach a point within myself where I was/am comfortable with and appreciative of my existence.

After a long period of sobriety, I feel as if my mind has become 'cluttered' with unaddressed anxieties and insecurities. Psychedelics have always been the tool that I use to address these thoughts and come to meaningful conclusions, allowing me to shed my anxieties and wake up, literally, a new man.

ugoliath, i dont know how you can do psychedelics without having some sort of spiritual experience

Because he's been "Mixing meth with my OC's since the age of 14." It's quite simple.

I think those of you who take psychedelics with no understanding of enlightenment in mind are heathens.

Heaps of people have probably said this and I havent read the thread properly but one of the reasons is to ''think outside the box". Ive found the way you think on psychedelics could benefit the world, Ive thought up many useful ideas on drugs that could be used in everyday life, Ideas that could make things easier and more economical for people.

Nothing to do with psych's but I missed out on goung out and getting funky on MDMA pills last night with all my mates coz im sick as, nothing has stayed in my stomach for longer than 12 hours :( It sucks.

Sometimes to dissolve the boundaries that normally hold me back, and examine things from a more neutral point of view. Sometimes(with the company of others) to have a fun, silly, good time and enjoy the companionship of my close friends through a shared exprience.

Its just another tool to hammer out all the shit you put up with all week!!!!Flushes the shit out, ready for the following weeks shit you have to consume!! The best extractor of shit a person can have IME,especially in the company of like minded folk!!!

to have telepathic converses via the vast active living information system with beings from the galactic federation, in order to save this dying planet.

nah, not really, but you think so when you are trippin balls, so that makes it fun! yay!

serious answer, the fun, but i do place a lot of importance in what i do believe to be intensely spiritual experiences. sasha shulgin says it best in the intro to pihkal.....
"i deem myself blessed, in that i have experienced, however briefly, the existence of god. i have felt a sacred oneness with creation and its creator and most precious of all...i have touched the core of my own soul"
