So I read in another thread:

my opinion i feel is almost fact, i dont care how hardcore of a heroin addict many people are, from shoting 2-3 bundles a day or more, i feel 4mg bupe sublingually will take awy physical withdrawl, if not all the ay, an 8mg sub WILL 100% kill all physical WD withdrawling from heroin, i dont care how big the habi

This isnt anywhere near being true for me. I have only used suboxone about 4 times total, over the course of about a year and a half. No matter how much sub I take, I am still sick for days before it begins to hold me. The last time I switched, I went from about a gram of heroin a day to sub. The day before going on sub, I did only a tiny tiny fraction of heroin. So I went on sub only about 4 hours after my last dose of heroin, but my last dose of heroin was about 5 mg when I am used to doing about 400 mg. so despite it only having been 4 hours, I was extremely sick and just couldnt take the pain anymorre. It had been about 16 hours since the last time I took a dose of heroin big enough to get me well.

Anyway, here is the thing. Even after I took the sub, I was still so sick that I was calling my friend and begging her to come take me to the ER because I didnt think I could stand it and my breathing was so labored I thought I was going to die. After about 8 hours of that hell and taking 20 mg of sub, I finally began to feel just a tiny bit better and by afternoon the following day I was well enough to be able to get out of bed for short periods of time. But even then, after five days on subs (though taking less each day) I was still sick and still unable to sleep.

I am now getting ready to detox again and I want to know why it is so hard for me? Did I time the suboxone wrong? Is there anytyhing I can do to make this proicess less painful? Dont get me wrong, suboxone is a lifesaver because even though my last withdrawal was truly hellish, I can only imagine how much worse it would be withou the sub. I am noit sure Id have survived it.

it looks like you fell into precipitated withdrawals.

In my opinion, the only way to make it less painful is to do it like this:
wait at least 24 hours after your last dose starts to wear off. it might be tough and annoying, but just try to bullshit for a day. if you can hold of longer, than that's even better.
now i do not know how you take to your suboxone, but start of small at first. take around 0.1 or at most 0.5 mg every 20 or 30 mins until you feel relief.

i find that it helps a lot when you take more on the first day. so lets say after 2 hours (which would be around 2-3mgs), you feel better, i would take double what i just took within the hour after(another 2 mgs spread out in an hour).

for some reason, when i take a lot of suboxone at one time, i dont feel as good as i would as i gradually build it up. for best results, imo, suboxone needs to be used slowly and patiently.

also, i dont think you can get so sick from withdrawals that it warrants a visit to the ER

I dont think it was PWs, I think there are just limits to what sub can do for a serious H habit. I just transitioned from H to subs again and this time was not nearly as bad (although still bad). The sub definitely made me feel better though, so thats not PWs. It's just rough for me transitioning from H to sub and I think the reason the last time was so rough was because I had an especially big habit and not anyhting to with PWs.

How many days on sub does it take you guys before you feel "well" and can sleep?

It became hard for me to transition to subs from h, but the dosage really didn't matter...Whether I took 4 mgs or 16 mgs, it still took me between 48-72 hours before I really started to feel "well"...Generally, once you hit the 48 hour mark, things get better rapidly, by day 4, you should be totally fine, IMO...Stay on as low a dose as possible....

Last time, a far cry from being well on day 4 I was still sick at day 10. But I should note that I was using very low doses of sub like .25 mg. This time, I want to feel well sooner though so I'm planning to take more. I know the less is more rule about sub but I find that at the very beginning, taking more does provide some extra relief.

^Shit, if you're still sick at day ten, is there even a point? May as well just kick! lol.....

.25 does seem a bit low, but 16-24 mgs a day is like brining 10 gallons of gasoline to a barbeque!

I only take 16 - 24 mgs a day on the first few days and then immediately cut that in half then in half again. I should have just kicked that time when I was sick on day 10 but I ended up going back on heroin.
