Why do atheists only seem to go after the Judeao-Christian religion?

I think he's asking, getting more in-depth, what created the makeup of an atom? What created matter and energy?

Matter can't create itself. Energy needs a source, it also can't come from nothing.

Some research I read on string theory (a concept that all particles can be represented as strings) suggests that every form of matter and energy is the result of a vibration of these strings. In physics, sound is a vibration. What sort of sound could set the universe in motion? The Voice of God.

Classic "god of the gaps" :\

Sorry for the confusion, I guess I might have thought it was something you could relate to or something.

But the quote is by no less than Lucifer - The Lucifer behind the "Lucifer", now speaking after his return to Heaven, about how he was present at the meeting were Constantine compiled the Bible and was so frustrated as he was powerless to do much apart from persuade them to keep a few of the original, beautiful passages that accurately described Christ's real life and work on Earth.

Gotcha. My apologies, I did not understand at first. I read the Lucifer thread, and while I'm not a firm believer in the Abrahamic God, Lucifer himself, not actually being "evil" does make sense to me.

LOL. I've barely done anything else.

But I didn't mean to offend anyone with those comments, it was maybe a bit badly worded.

I'm not offended :)
Have you read any of Søren Kierkegaard's work? I'm not asking by the way of a criticism, I genuinely think you would find him engaging.

Wikipedia, Rationalwikipedia, PediaWiki2000.... It's all the same shit :)

This isn't academia - Wikipedia is an excellent source, better than the vast majority of non-academic source material on the internet. And how would any other source explaining a concept like god of the gaps be any better than what Wikipedia could provide?

Easy target maybe? I've never heard of atheists going after Buddhism for instance. A lot if not most atheists to me at least actually just seem anti-christian. Thoughts?

Do Buddhists also claim that if we do not think as they do, we get sent to a hell for useless torture?

I do not recall such but I would say that most of us will react to a threat or criticism of morality and actions and these mostly come from the Abrahamic cults which are Christian, Catholic and Muslim.

Turn or burn is often used.

Further, in the West, most are of the Abrahamic cults and there would not be much return in attacking a theology that is way more moral than Christianity and Islam.

Exactly where in my post did I mention race? And how can I be ignorant when I've heard these very people, not movies, tell me exactly that?

Do you get your life experience from movies?

Better think before you post.

Picking on Jesus? It's the same when you hit your thumb with a hammer, or you call out in exasperation. Nobody exclaims Oh Buddah! Or oh Krishna! Or oh Allah! It's always Oh Jesus! But God cannot be mocked. Why Muslims get all shirty when their Alllah is depicted in a bad light in the press is laughable really. Is not their god big enough to look after himself? And how many gods are there anyway? Did it need a committee to create Heaven and earth? And what god was created first?

We will all face the one true living God at some point. That's when we will be called to give account of our lives and what we have done for Him and what we have squandered. My God is easily big enough to be picked on by atheists and not retaliate. He's the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. But He will have His day sometime soon. ;-)

I was on that committee, as a dark advisor to the Emperor. I watched as they sliced and mangled the writings of those who had truly loved Jesus, and who had written accurately of his life and work. Large tracts, like the writings of Mary Magdalene and Thomas, were declared false, illegitimate, while many of the copious writings of Paul were adopted wholesale.

Ninae, are you saying here that you've had a past life?

Who the hell is Richard!? Lol, I never heard of Richard :)

Racism is defined by a contribution to the systematic oppression of an ethnic group, and because Gangs are predominately Black and Latin American, due to the oppression of those specific ethnic groups, pointing out specific people, who are most commonly found in specific ethnic groups that are systematically oppressed, and bagging on them because of their religious beliefs that are commonly found in their culture; you are making a contribution to the oppression of that group of people. Therefore, it is inadvertently racist, as stated. I did not say arrogant, I said ignorant, which is not intended to be rude, as we are all ignorant beings.

Hi Teabag

Richard is right here. I usually use an identifying part of their name, but sometimes not the whole name.

Richard I understand what you're saying, even if you used the words Systematic and Oppression too many times. Thank you for clarifying the matter. And I still wish you wouldn't refer to me as a racist, as the people I'm talking about are of a part of the country as white as snow. There are lots of these sorts out there, not just Hispanic and black.

You are correct about the ignorant beings.

I criticize the behavior of all religions that is oppressive. There was a situation where there were Buddhists were committing genocide against Muslims at one point recently. Hindus in India can get pretty nasty too. I criticized that. I find you are correct. I have seen them hate Christianity and anything associated with it but love the big menorah in front of the white house or the prayer rooms everywhere. The three Abrahamic faiths tend to have that kind of aggressive war like mentality. I think some of the art and many of the people who are members of those faiths are great personally but you will have that extremist element in all of them too. I don't pick and choose when I criticize. Most other atheists I have met are annoying and tend to be clones of one another and also prey to their gods in the lab coats a tad too much. Science demonstrates a lot of correct things but it also is based on theory which in some cases with some political issues, can have some sketchy political influence involved as far as funding and the interests of the peers reviewing it. So peer reviewed in general tends to need some research to determine bias and a lot of them do too. Not every atheist is a far left nutcase. I personally was one but it reminded me too much of when I had to do all of that OCD, praying to the Virgin Mary stuff to not go to hell. It just didn't make sense to me. However, I think Christmas lights are beautiful and I also think the Vatican and Mecca are two of the most beautiful places on earth. I am all about humanity in general.

Exactly. Which God did we create first.

Strange that all the other Gods are myth and false except yours and that puppy looks exactly like the plagiarize character that he is. Hero of 1000 Faces.

And yours has piss poor morals so if you dare to take a close look with me I will prove it to you.

But you do not care if he is moral or not. Right?

You just care about your salvation because you believe that you are as bad as your church has brainwashed you into thinking.

DL, I'm sorry mate but I think you need to take a bit of a chill pill. You seem t be getting angry and all defensive because my answer doesn't marry up with your world view. The above video is also so full of emotionally charged false arguments. Your presenter has deployed an age-old political ploy by preempting the vocabulary in order to gain the moral/philosophical/political hifgh ground. Great gambit if the person you are engaging with in discussion has not the wit to perceive such mental gymnastics. Also, you should take a step back and look at your last post and ask yourself if you would like to receive such a reply. What is your personal issue with Jesus? Maybe that's a question addressed somewhere else. Point me there so we don't confuse this thread. Steve
