Stole some beers out of the fridge with a friend at her house when I was 14ish. Then alcohol was all over my house, so I started watering down my mother's gin and vodka and... oh lord, 99 Bananas... I wretch just thinking about it. So it was only drinking for a long time.
Then another friend introduced me to marijuana. I can say that pot use is probably the most healthy of drug use, even daily users can be highly functioning. Pardon the pun.
I remember smoking a joint in the schoolyard of some random high school in my neighborhood with my friend. I don't know why we thought that was a good place to smoke (I think she was stalking a boy who went to the school, actually), but there we were. Then I went home and ate some day old sushi from the fridge and it was AWESOME. Most of my introduction to drugs happened at punk shows, where people would pass around random pipes, reload them when they were empty (different people, with different shit, ugh my first and last Salvia experience...) and just fucking crazy shit like that. It's a good way to get mouth herpes.
Ugh, and then my HIGH SCHOOL CRUSH invited me and a friend back to his place to smoke up and I officially became a pot head. I have no recollection of how we got to his place, nor how I got home. But I remember that sexy Jew bastard and his excellent reefer and mediocre guitar playing.
Then I got into cocaine through this same friend by chance. She had some, was over my house, so we went into the bathroom and I had my first line. I think it was the first time I felt powerful. That led me into a multitude of drugs; trying everything I could get my hands on, really. But the mainstays have always been alcohol, benzos, cocaine, LSD, marijuana and now, opiates, which have gotten me completely hooked. I've had periods of sobriety where I stopped using cocaine on my own, stopped drinking on my own but benzos, marijuana and opiates are now my way of coping with life/having fun... what is the distinction? I don't know.
