In a colossal victim-blaming exercise, the act of squatting in residential premises -- as opposed to, say, the act of making a person homeless -- was criminalised last year, just in time for Winter.

It was already a crime anyway where there was a Displaced Residential Occupant or Protected Intending Occupant, so it is difficult to imagine how this move could have benefitted anyody but property speculators. At least one person has already died because of it.

N did you say i were renting a Council Property , private ?

Or was that some one else .

You coulda no i won't cos i expect your parents have already said it !
Yep, that was me. And no, don't say it, cheers. ;)

Council housing, or rather tenancy, the Scandinavian version of public housing. Sold off at a massive pace right now - privatizing the profits while making the losses (financial and social) losses public, and today more than 50% of all housing in Stockholm is tenant-ownership (an enourmous conversion - compare with 63% tenancy in the country in general).

Bad things are looming on the horizon for all those who have been put in debt by being tricked into "buying" their own flat and all those individuals and families who are increasingly being forced to live on short-term 2nd, 3rd or even 4th hand contracts (often illegally). Instead of subsidizing the selling off of the housing stock, a better solution might have been to create incentives for building companies to construct cheap tenancy housing instead and prevent municipalities from siphoning of income from rents from the funds set aside for keeping the housing stock in shape rather than in building prestige "skyline" buildings or whatever..

A funny action some people did last year: http://www.thelocal.se/20120130/38810

Nice analysis, comparing UK to .se conditions: The Swedish deluge

I now use a bear grylls type approach when ive over indulged, right im safe leaning against this wall, wheres my next move, ah yeah make it to the armchair, etc etc, trying to get straight through a room when totally wasted without several stopping/rest points is a no no ive learnt the hard way. This approach has actually come in very usefull and saved a lot of further breakages and injuries, though i dont tend to get that wasted very much anymore. Only once in the last few months IIRC.

Congrats on being a Homeowner , i live in a lovely area btw . I have lived in some dangerous places in the past but it was character building

Have you got a knife? Please don't stab me. Take my money please just don't hurt me. *whimper*

You Sir need a flight to the barrio, the fackin dogs alone there will swallow a pesky rodent like you in a second let alone the need to worry about getting stabbed, that place they have knife's that shoot bullets.

Parents.

Done the whole mates thing. Student digs etc etc...

Disgusting tbh.

I used to work delivering furniture to student digs. F**kings disguising... girls especially.

My parents are moving on I'll probably be here for the foreseeable future.

Not a nice area we live in. Makes them feel safe having me here and I'm lifted and laid.

Small price to pay for them taking care of me all my days.

Fucked around all my days pissing my money away.

Mortgage is a no no to me. But could be worse.

Have mates who have the lot. big houses.. flash cars. 4 holidays a year etc.

Look down on you.

Tbh everyone of them is married and fucking all round them. Thanks not happiness in my book

I'm the only one in a fucking Hostel. I'm not able to get back onto the homeless list until they are satisfied that my drug use has reached certain point, and I'm better off in the hostel I'm in, rather than some of the other's i've been in around Bristol, which sometimes feel like places people have gone to die, given up, dodged out as they're trapped in a vicious circle. I know that feeling.

^ I know Brimz, I know. I'm thinking of checking myself back into Rehab housing (even though I walked out of it last time, but I wasn't ready then) as I can't get clean in the community, not with a boyfriend who's failing at it too.

But, it needs a lot more thought yet, it's a big commitment, and means losing the place I've got in this hostel, which is pretty sweet as yeah, there's users here, and sometimes it's encouraging, but they're more like friends than the sort of people I'd be with in other hostels. The place is managed differently. Maybe I'll just go up North to my Dad's to do my cluck, but then I risk coming back to the same environment, and a boyfriend who's using probably even more than when I left.
