Hi Melt!!!! Nice name
wink.gif

For me it was The Drugs hehe.!
I popped my first goog @ a friends house. Then the next week we went to EPTAS 17.
So it was pretty much at the same time.
It was more so, a change of scene... I hadnt been exposed too the music untiL I entered a rave. But I had been exposed 2 da druGs.

the dancing came first

i used to go to top 40 cheesy drunk clubs when I was 18 just so I could dance till 5am.
I went to my first rave cause I was curious what the music was like, but mainly cause I wanted to dance.
Fell in love with the music so kept going to dance parties cause of the music.
Then I was introduced to the drugs
smile.gif

I find now the drugs take away from my urge to dance..they just make me want to sit down and chat. So I stay sober for most of the night, then might drop a pill after quite a few hours, or not take one at all.
the music and my love of dancing will always come first

the music came 1St!
and here's a lill story i'd like to share with you pplZ!
(if u've read this on RDC already, sorry 4 repeating!)
So many times we've had this conversation with our friends, wether this whole "rave scene" is truly bout the music or is it just here cause of the drugz...blah blah blah...everyone has their own opinion bout this. But no matter wut they belive most of them agree that music is good for the soul!
i wonder what we'd ever do without it!
have u ever been in a bad mood, think that nothing's going right, just hate everything, and then u sit down and listen to ur favourite CD! just listening to it makes you feel much better! it brings a smile to your face! makes you think that things are not so bad after all! and as cheesy as it sounds, it brightens up your day.
Last nite after working for hrz, being yelled at by rude customers number of times, and being really tired, had to catch the bus to go to my mum's place! while running to catch the last bus, i opened my bag to get my ticket out, and realised i have lost $20, my monthly ticket and my keys! I was cold, tired, and when this happened just wanted to sit down somewhere and cry!
but had no time for that, cause the last bus was leaving in 5 minutes! so i started running again and -just- made it! when i got on the bus there was this old man, in his late 70's, sitting down and playing his violin!
he played and played and played! and i listened! the music was beautiful! when i got to my stop, i thanked him and told him how good he playez! he smiled and said "happy easter my girl".
When i got off the bus i had the biggest smile on my face, and for the whole nite was playing the old man's music in my head, over and over again!
...and that's the power of music!
------------------
...and that's why i fly on my own now! No one to impress, depress, out best or digest.

that's a great story, shadow. thanks for reminding me that magic still happens
smile.gif

as for music or chems first, i think melt already knows the answer... thanks, dood. after being broken in thru some northern exposure, my first event (i.e. with the new-found ability to actually listen to the music) was a techno gig by the name of Underground Resistance. rolando didn't give me the slightest chance to even consider drugs then. the rest is history i guess... albeit a bit hazy and unfocused at bits
wink.gif

yay.

frist party: omniglobe @ global village

serotone...that's not a good argument to get into.
no one can say that one person has more of a a place at an event (or anywhere for that matter) over another. everyone's reasons for being there are totally valid, regardless of what those reasons might be.

I agree with serotone..... if you don't enjoy the music straight... why do some people bother going...... to be with friends, getted fucked up and meet new people? fair enough... but it IS all about the music
Ok, you might enjoy the music spangled hence your only there for the drugs and thats just sorta wierd coz most of these events/parties are all about the music
Soz, another comment from the peanut gallery

"This product may experience some settling, please upturn to re-introduce the juice"

Definitely the music... for me the drugs heighten my experience / 'interaction' with the music and help me stay awake

What do you mean that natural frequency vibration sound is music? I'm only there for the drugs, that pounding noise that they make come out of the speakers is only there to vibrate your intestines so you dont get constipated from all the heroin you're shooting up. Everyone knows its all about the drugs. Music hasn't existed since the 1920's.

The drugs came first for me. When i was in my teens i was into indie rock and thought that dance music sucked. Then when i started popping i realised that this wasn't the case.
Now, the music is much more important. Drugs or no drugs, i always love going out and listening to good DJs play good tunes.

When I first started going out it was about half half with the drugs and the music, I did go out straight, but only becos i couldn't get the drugs. The music and the drugs went hand in hand, kinda like a ciggerate and coffee
smile.gif
.
Now though I go out straight most of the time and do drugs at other times. When I go out straight I go hard until I can't walk properly anymore. When I go out on drugs I get too messed up too dance and end up sitting in the corner of the club or in a chill out room in a big blubbering puddel and I feel even worse the next day cos i can't remember one track the DJ has played or who I've met on the night.
*shrugs* I prefer going out straight cos I get to meet people, have a good time dancing all night and I can remember everything the next day
smile.gif
.
It's people's choice, some people go to the pub to listen to a band play and others go there to meet and relax with mates, Their reasons for going out are completely up to them.
Peace

Bullshit:
So your saying that an evil vibed person being an asshole to those around him belongs at a party? what about the 6 foot heavyweight drug dealer who presses his own pills out of cheap grade speed and rips off all his clientele? What about the asshole drugdealers who sell to 14 year first timers knowing that they'll probably o'd? What about the 13 and 14 year old kids who we all know shouldn't be there getting ripped off their tits but they are?
I'm sorry, call me what you like, but thats my opinion. I don't think there isn't anything necessarily wrong with it either. After all the scene is based upon music, take the music away and what do you have? Yeah drugs play a big part too, but they were only used at the first rave parties to 'intensify' the music experience as far as i know....
So if you don't like the music straight, what the fuck are you doing there....
One more thing i'd like to add.....four years ago i used to cop shit at school from liking electronic music. 'Noname techno, rubbish bin music, blablabla you name it'.....now i'm seeing more and more of the very people who used to bag it at parties....and everyone of them off their tits. And at the thomas shcumacher party, i saw two of these doods, neither knew who thomas schumacher was. "is he mick shumchaers brother? "....now some might say big shit but like what about the thomas schumahcer fans dying to get in at the door but they couldn't because it was sold out....they deserved to be inside way more than these other blokes.......
i dunno...*blah*
i'm out. erghh...back to bed for me

Music the whole way!
i admittedly did drop at my first rave but i'd been listening to trance for ages before that.
I also reckon, that even when i stop dropping i'll still go to raves to hear the music

serotone, i hear your pain.
i too was ridiculed for
listening to ‘fake music’,
and now, many years later,
those footballers have
embraced electronic
music/culture as they did
pub rock.
everything evolves.

I'm not saying that all the people you've mentioned should be at events, when you take an argument to the extreme it kinda fucks up don't it
smile.gif
. All I'm saying is that we all have to be a little tolerant. It's very judgemental to say that if someone is at an event for different reasons to you that they're there for the "wrong" reasons, for me the music does come first all of the time and i do go out straight alot. But I think that whatever floats your boat as long as you don't hurt anyone
smile.gif
.
Seretone : I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I got hassled at school for listening to hip-hop and electronic music and now alot of the people who were hassling me are going out to get chopped like liver. It's kinda funny cos these guys have absolutely no idea who's playing and what they play, they look at fliers and say "it's a big event and he seems famous cos i've seen his name somewhere before, i think it'll be cool to go, yeah let's go and get fuXored up"
smile.gif
.. EEEEEk stop blabbering
Peace

To sum it all up, music came first for me.
i used to be into alternative music, but was shown something new by a guy i met. he took me to parties and brainwashed me with drum n bass. i was amazed and never looked back. a couple of months later that same guy decided to show me something different again..he handed me a pill...thank you.
