Whats you faveroite song about Heroin?

I had always thought H was about Heroin (or any other addiction), but I can't think of any other songs they do that could loosely be applied to opiates.

I dont know much about MJK being against anything, but in the latest APC single weak and powerless "some one hold the monkey while I dig in seach of china / white as dracula as I..."

I forgot to add: Fifteen - My Congressman. Not only is it about IV drug use, it's harm reduction oriented. They're also one of the few pop punk bands out there with socially relevant lyrics...

No idea if the band is still together, but I do know their (former?) frontman Jeff Ott is touring right now and is playing a show here in early January. I'll probably check it out.

i just wanted to say that i really enjoy their song survivor. have you ever heard it? i know this if off topic but i just love that song, if you havnt heard it you should, it is excellent.

SOCIAL DISTORTION LYRICS

"Mainliner"

Nothing she can do, she's so confused.
Something should be done, but she'll refuse.
She's got a new fix, to ease her pain.
She's got a new fix, to control her brain.

oh, no no no mainliner, mainliner

Out of frustration, she unwraps the foil.
Takes out her spoon, starts to boil.
She used to be pretty, to all her friends.
But the hypodermic needle took her to the end.

Oh, no no no mainliner, mainliner

She's boiling up, always in heat.
Stick it in again just to keep her beat.
Only this time she'll try a little more.
This time we found her on the floor

Oh, no no no mainliner, mainliner...

Definitely about heroin and one of my all time favorites. Lots of truth here.
;)

theres a great song by johnny cash, dont know the name though.
i hurt myself today....the needle tears a hole/that old familiar sting....i use to kill the pain/ but i remember everything... i know im butchering the lyrics but its such a poignant sad song about dope. my ex-girlfriend made me a mix when i was trying to kick dope with this song on it and it made me cry. im such a pussy. another song that i think is about H off the chili peppers new disc By The Way, its called Tear, its all about forgiving yourself. at least its a song that related to dope very personally for me, another one that made me cry. i know i sound like a girl, but i NEVER cry, and these songs just had me bawling like a little girl with a skinned knee. goddamn music is the only thing that does it to me.

also nirvana's lyrics have dope written all over them although its usually not overt. jesus dont want me for a sunbeam is a good one.

sorry i guess some of these songs may not have specific references to heroin but just listen to them and tell me that they dont speak to you about your dope habit if you have/had one.

tool- opiate (my favorite tool song)

lil wyte- oxycotton... thats how he spells it
its got some tight lyrics
" Go on and slip in 2 xanax bars im ready too get full 5th of crown too wash it down im down town breakin rules/ aint no shame up in my game infact im mentally deranged/ oxycontin in my system damn im fealing kinda strange/ watch me choke off this dope blueberry from texas/ you wanna hit it in rotation be too bad 'cuz im stressing/ by now its 1:30 a.m. eleven percocets just entered me 50min. from this second i be crawling on my knees/ laughting at all the clowns that be surrounding me/ take another lortab too calm me down and let me see/ body be relaxed muscles be loose and you have stopped the pain no more bitching bout your day at work or driving in the rain/

scarecrow scarecrow whats that ya popin a powerful pill they call oxycontin/ well it so tight nigga its got me draggin havent you heard big things come in small packages/ i perfeer the oranges with the black oc take 2 and you can not move up out ya seat some ppl melt them down in a needle and shoot emm up but i pop emm' with.... dont know the rest

TOOL Lyrics

Opiate Lyrics

Choices always were a problem for you.
What you need is someone strong to guide you.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow,
what you need is someone strong to use you..
like me,
like me.

If you want to get your soul to heaven,
trust in me .
Don't judge or question.
You are broken now ,
but faith can heal you.
Just do everything I tell you to do.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow.
Let me lay my holy hand upon you.

My Gods will
becomes me.
When he speaks out,
he speaks through me.
He has needs
like I do.
We both want
to rape you.

Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life.
Open my eyes and blind me with your light
and your lies.

The song Opiate is most definitely not about Heroin. I think it was Ketamike who said it was more likely to be a reference to Karl Marx. Well Ketamike I think you are right.

Religion is the "Opiate" of the masses. It comforts you and protects you from your own reality. Unfortuntely you don't get any good out of religion like you do with opiates.8( ;)

"A Junky's Christmas" - William S. Burroughs with The Disposable Heroes of Hiphophrisy(sp?). This is basically Burroughs telling us a story set to music by the Disposable Heroes. Its about a dope sick and broke junkie trying to score on Christmas day. How he eventually does score and what he does with the drugs.

"Never Let Me Down" - Depeche Mode (off Music For The Masses).. "I'm taking a ride with my best friend/ I hope he never lets me down again/promises me I'll be safe as houses/ as long as I remember who's wearing the trousers.."

"Sweetest Perfection" - Depeche Mode (Violator)

Don't you wish Gahan was back on dope and Mode was Mode again? They were so much better off then.

And of course the VU classiscs

I also like Billy Idol's cover of 'Heroin' (sorry)

I like Alice in Chains. Junkhead and No excuses are great when on smack. I personally think No Excuses is the description of being enveloped by the opiate warmth, not to mention one of my favorite songs.

And of course, Lynyrd Skynyrd's "neddle and the spoon."

Portishead - Sour times

"Covered by the blind belief
That fantasies of sinful screens
Bear the facts, assume the dye
End the vows no need to lie, enjoy
Take a ride, take a shot now"

Lou Reed - Waiting for the man

Rolling Stones - Brown sugar (well, perhaps not so great but anybody else hasn't (?) suggested it)

Suede's Dog Man Star (damn great album!) is much about heroin and the other drugs.

"And like all the boys in all the cities
I take the poison, take the pity
But she and I, we soon discovered
we'd take the pills to find each other"

New generation

oh yeah, blind melons "No Rain" sorta has a subliminal heroin feel and sound to it, hell, shannon hoon(head singer) died of a Heroin Overdose.

I know there is one by "GUNS & ROSES" but i i can't for the life of me....remember the damn name of the song. Does anyone know which song im talking about?
