Personally, I think making blacklight the default but allowing switching back to the standard theme, perhaps with a confirmation dialog "Are you sure? Reasons for blacklight. Yes/No" Would allow those who wish to go along with blacklight the option to do so and those who don't the option not to.
It's not like a two minute silence where me prattling on the phone to someone ruins it for everyone else. Individual choice here affects no-one else.
And engage Albion to make it look "better".
I don't see what can be wrong with any of that.
Although, I'm fully aware that this year staff have had the added complication of a server upgrade to contend with, and so I'm not being particularly strident about it.
