Yeah, Manhattan was good. I haven't seen that in years, I should revisit it.
Did you see Matchpoint (2005)? It was well made, and unlike anything else of his, but so fucking bleak and not even a stab at humor. I didn't think he had a movie like that in him. Can't say I liked it, though I could appreciate the craft.
Some of his early movies had their very funny moments. One of my favorites, it gets me in touch with my teenage sense of humor :
