🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 What's the last film you saw? v. Why doesn’t Peter Jackson wear shoes?

I saw " Mr Woodcock "

It was kind of CORNY but it made me laugh a few times.

It was like a bad santa 4.

A Must See. Lol.

They were showing a special 30th anniversary screening of Se7en at my local theater... one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a while. It had been years since I watched it but truly one of my favorites. They just don't make movies like that anymore.

I loved being transported back to the 90s.

We went to see the much lauded 'small things like these' as it was finishing it's cinema run, Cillian Murphy stars, a master of his craft and a great guy all round. I however was totally underwhelmed. Cillian has the midas touch when picking roles, and deservedly so.
Alas, this movie didn't cut the mustard. He won't look back fondly at this abomination

I used to watch this aussie guy.....nice guy...i like him....brave,but like all criminals extremely superstitious 👍 ..haha:ROFLMAO:

I watch spaniens vlogs still, but his 'in the hood' ones, well the European ones anyway are anything but accurate

there's a lot of inaccurate things in his blogs...well this is more like entertainment...but the guy has balls obviously....the episode from Naples...Scampia-these blocks...natives calls them" la velle"-see how desolate looks the place in the day?....and in the same time every ur step is strictly watch from all sides.....the "twilight zone" we call it....probably along with some parts of Marseille one of the most dangerous places in West/Southern Europe

@Oldskipper That's a shame to hear, Cilian is usually great. it sounded interesting. Did you ever see Philomena? It was about the same subject. It came out about a dozen years ago.. I liked it. It has a woman played by Judi Densch who had given up her baby in one of the homes for unwed mothers.
While, I'm chatting with you, how did you like the movie "Belfast"? ( I know you're Irish) I liked it a lot a lot but a buddy of mine who was originally from Dublin and pretty active in the IRA in the 70s refused to see it, was certain he would hate it. I was surprised because I liked it so much. I'm just curious about your Irish perspective.

"Wolfman" mehhh....i dont know what i was expecting but it wasnt this. the guy didnt turn into a "wolf"...just got a bit hairy, not scary at all, too "atmospheric" & dark. 5/10 id rather see smile 2 for the 3rd time. ;-)

I could kinda tell from the trailer it wasn't going to be great.
I really hate that too, I love werewolf movies.

The Substance was great. Probably just a touch overrated just based on the over the top praise I had read from some critics. Probably the best example of a Black Mirror plot made into a theatrical film. Well acted too, was glad to see Demi get the golden globe.

it got a little carried away tho

i mean wtf with the blob thing she became in the end

but it started off great

This is the thing chip, it's a harrowing part of Irish history (we've had our fair share of shite history) but cinema wise it's been done to death. Off the top of my head I could probably reel off 10 films on the exact same topic. As for 'BELFAST', If your pal doesn't want to see it, he has his reasons (see shite Irish history above). I've seen it, thought it was a bit of a slow burner mate. Belfast is kinda one of those films you'd have to watch several times before you could properly appreciate it. I'll watch it again

Thanks for your take. I imagine Belfast is more aimed at an American audience than doesn't really know much about the Troubles or the rest of Irish history. Irish history for sure isn't as as personal and painful to me and I learned next to nothing growing up. I did spend 6 weeks there last year traveling around and learned a whole load of stuff about history and cultural that I knew little of. A lot of personal stories from people I met. A lot of shite indeed but interesting for me. Gave me an appreciation of the uniqueness of Irish people.

Gladiator 2, its pretty decent,Denzel seemed an odd actor in it at first, but he did good.

yeah, i watched it recently.

it's pretty much just the first film all over again but i stuck with it and enjoyed it. the set-piece battle at the beginning was great and the battle against the baboons on steroids was awesome :)

I saw The Substance the other day and didn't really think too much of it. There was some humor, but it didn't really seem to make much of a point beyond the obvious. The vile guy was even named Harvey. 2/5

I watched Presence and Companion recently. I highly recommend both.

A tip on Presence, though.... don't go in expecting a horror movie.
It's an eerie family drama with a few twists and turns.

Companion was awesome. Bit too similar to Megan and various other similar films, but it's a unique take and the humor is great. Love the characters and just a fun watch overall.

Definitely recommend both.
