🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 What's the last film you saw? v. Why doesn’t Peter Jackson wear shoes?

whats the best horror film of the relatively modern era, how about a top 3 or 5. i was trying to recommend one to a teenager but i dont think freddie vs jason will cut it nowadays lol/

The Ring

4/5

Stunning adaptation of Ringu (Japanese version) - very somber with a blueish sort of to tint to it that makes it even creepier to watch. Def recommended.

The Ring Two (2005)

3.5/5

This was a weird one. The atmosphere is totally removed from the first and replaced with one that’s nearly, nearly, nearly just right for a Ring sequel. I admit the script needs def polish and things fleshed out more but hey it’s a Ring film.

Paprika (2007)

5/5

One of my favourite films. Absolutely brilliant animation with a great story. Watch it!

Smile and the remake of Candyman are good more recent ones. Also maybe the new Hellraiser.

These aren’t necessarily the best but good modern ones.

Demonic (2021)

4/5

Really enjoyed this silly techno exorcist flick but yeah it’s good and not many have really seen it.

The new Indiana Jones one and was very disappointed. Background was all green screen/fake and didn't look good at all. I'm surprised Harrison Ford agreed to it

I've seen a few films recently where the dialogue doesn't match the pictures. Also unnecessary Chinese subtitles. Now and then a person's head appears in front of the screen. I'm not sure why they've started making films like this nowadays.

The Human Centipede
Requiem for a Dream (whatever extended cut/DC is out there)
The Silence of the Lambs (might be a bit meme-ish now with Goodbye Horses)
Son of Saul
Come and See
2001: A Space Odyssey (I find it personally disturbing but maybe the long intro with the ape suits can be silly)

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (again I find this movie horrific but ymmv)

watching The Shining under the influence :weedleaf:

I haven't seen Son of Soul, but that's one hell of a list.
Human Centipede is my favourite soft-core porn.
Requiem for a Dream is one of the best movies ever made.
The Silence of the Lambs, 2001 and Come and See and One Flew... are all amazing.
The Shining is one of the greatest horror movies ever.
