the counselor.

sorry to say i thought it was boring =/ screenplay by cormac mccarthy and boy could you hear it. the way the characters talked was just like something out of book like they would go on and on with this long spiel and im like "here we go again"

but i still recommend to see it at least once for two reasons. uno) javier bardem rockin the blowout and dos) cameron diaz does something ;);) to the windshield of a ferrari

you've read anything good by mccarthy? No Country for Old Men is such a grating, laughable novel. reminded me of some that pulp tom clancy would write. i say that without having finished it. and i know i'm in the minority. but that shit is unreadable.

it's amazing what the coen brothers made of it.

nope. that was a silly post for me to make. despite it all being subjective (to an extent), i was shocked that someone would consider his narrative voice part of a surefire equation for success. where as i get the appeal of his plots and characters. i didn't convey that well. nor did i have any good reason to comment.

Rubber

it's too self aware to be true b movie. which is fine by me. better than i thought it was gonna be. the tone is an amateur mix of godard and lynch. falls significantly short of the latter and i feel dirty having compared it to the former.

Salt of This Sea

because i don't know anything about the palestine/israel thing and it's a wandering romance. presents just one perspective concerning the conflict. it embraces, instead of attempting to mask, this limitation. is exploring frustration and discontent more than the political issue. female lead. i enjoyed it. won't remember it in a week.

Before Your Eyes

almost forgot about this one. had to watch the trailer to refresh my memory. i used to make fun of my parents for this. i think it's because i've seen too many. hopefully nothing up there is atrophying. it skirts cry porn at moments, but overall this movie is pretty. the little girl reminds me of ana torrent. the paramilitary guy's story isn't interesting. some of it does need to be there for her character. i didn't need to see any pseudo-justice to conclude.

I just got back from seeing Inside Llewyn Davis. It was a pretty depressing ride. Life can and will be so hard. Some funny dialogue. Good performances all round. Soundtrack was nice, predictably (if you're into that type of music). Definitely made up for my last Coen Brother's outing, which was, really quite tiresome: A Serious Man.

Can't agree with you on that one. I prefer the book to the movie. And I loved the movie!

^^^

Yeah I had heard all this amazing sit about Inside Llewyn Davis but when I finally watched it.. I honestly did not see what the hype was about. Nothing really happened plot wise.. it was kind of boring and just not even close to the movie they made it out to be.

Watched Blue Jasmine tonight it was a funny movie and Kate Blanchett did an excellent job in it. She deserves an Academy Award for this one

Then I watched Dallas Buyer's club afte man it was so depressing :( really made me feel awful. I don't think I should watch another heavy drama movie for a while. Having said that Matthew Mcconaughey deserves the best actor award for his performance.

McCarthy's punctuation (or lack thereof) makes me skip his work.

book told me the numeric power of a character's binoculars. that ruins the mood for me.

Oh, Saigon

the girl is much prettier than the cover had me guessing. i wanted to feel nostalgic about visiting vietnam and found the one-hour runtime easy. i was hoping it'd be good too. it's a lot of setup and history for a relatively bland climax. is the video at the gate that they keep replaying actually her and her family? there's a lot of old vietnam war footage for such a short movie. great topic. sad to see she hasn't released another documentary. a stronger focus on what was happening, as opposed to what had happened, woulda helped this one.

watched the movie Gabriel last night:

I liked how the storyline is not typical with how "Michael, the Archangel saves the day" because most movies have Michael as always the protagonist and the ever perfect.

^^

Never heard of it. So it was actually good? I love that angel/demon type shit, different takes on Christian mythology. That's why I love Supernatural, the TV show. They focus on all that shit. Angels, demons, lucifer, the archangels, cane and able, all that stuff.

I loved it! It has a bad rating but I don't care I enjoyed it. Yeah I love the angel/demon type of movies too. I am guessing you have seen Legion? Priest?

Edit: Also loved Gabriel's tat! :D

^It's an okay movie I liked Gabriel better because the story line is concentrated on the battle between Angels and demons and doesn't involve much on the human race which is the storyline in the Legion and Priest.

Priest has better action scenes though.
