Film What's the Last Film You Saw? v. Tell Us What You Thought!

I watched River's Edge, which was released in 1986 with a young Keanu Reeves. and wow that was one of my favorite movies of all time. It totally surpassed any expectations I had for it. There were some really hilarious scenes that were just classic and it wasn't even listed as a comedy. Keanu Reeves was ok but was more of a facilitator for the other real unique characters i guess. I don't even remember how I found this or why I wanted to watch it. It's fate man, I tell you.

I haven't seen River's Edge in ages. I just remember Crispin Glover and his tiny little car blaring heavy metal :P

yeah, I thought the guy was hilarious but i read some reviews afterwards and it seems people either really love him or really hate him. I have no idea how this isn't a comedy. I'm reading peoples reviews saying:

"Help yourself to a comedy to recover if it rocks you too hard."

"I just watched it for the first time. Totally depressing. Why does a movie like this exist? What is it good for?"

Made me feel like i watched something completely different. I promise I'm not nearly as apathetic as the people in this movie. I thought John (the guy who shows everyone his dead gf) and Feck (the insane guy with the sex doll) were both so hilarious and when they joined together it was like a gold mine dude. I'm gonna have to watch this again sometime and i'm not someone who watches movies twice.

to my suprise the wolf on wallstreet is getting bashed, people walking out, saying this should of been rated X and is softcore porn.

there were probably 4 people who walked out of the movie when i saw it..and they were older, like walking stick old. i dont blame them.

i myself found myself saying "this is getting alittle out of hand and felt uneasy at times."

but thats what made it great.

^Really? I didn't think it was very out of control, especially considering the story line. The IRL happenings were probably insane.

I just watched Gravity. Beautiful cinematography. I don't expect this to be winning best picture, but it will probably clean up in the design and production categories at the Oscars.

Yves Saint Laurent (Jalil Lespert - 2014)

Well it's quite good, there's a certain mellow mood to it, images are beautiful and we get to see the dark side of the genius Haute Couture creator. Def worth a viewing.

Visually it was great and had awesome special effects. I don't understand why it's in the Best Picture category. Other than looking cool this movie had nothing unique or different to offer. It didn't even have too much regular same old stuff to offer.

"Oh no space stuff has fucked with our space ship and now we're in space danger."
---"Here's what to do. Everything is going to be accomplished at the last second and going to work by the skin of your teeth."
"Oh no! I can't do it alone."
---"You can. Remember you're the one who *Recall past event* when no else could."
"You're right. I can do this. I'll give it a shot!"

*Stuff happens*

Some unexpected problem arises that is going to fuck everything up.
A solution to the problem is found.

*Dramatic re-entry*

"EARTH! I'm so happy to be on you again."

Now with that being the basic storyline, I know I'm not the only one who could think of several other films that would fit in with what I just wrote. It was a generic space story with generic dialogue spoken by two well-known and well respected actors. Yet there was so little dialogue and interaction that it could have easily been played by a number of other actors and not have been any worse or less appealing of a movie.

American Hustle

I loved this as well, such a great and very unusual cast. Louis CK as an FBI administrator? Jeremy Renner as a squeaky clean mayor with a pompadour? Christian Bale as a fat, bald con man? It was so quirky it worked really well. I wish De Niro had a larger part in this, though.

You're Next. Why the hell did this get so many good reviews? Pathetically predictable, unrealistic, and boring.

People walked out? hahah. What a waste, I really enjoyed it, I didnt feel uneasy at all. Good drug use and sex scenes. I thought it was pretty tame on some of the sex scenes really. Like when Naomi was showing off to him and calling him daddy in the kids room and the 2 guards were watching the cam, they didnt really show much in that scene, the scenes that had sex were just boobs and some sex simulation stuff. Hardly x rated.

It was long (3 hours was it?), but even when it finished I thought there could have been more, like showing him in jail or showing more about what happened after jail and what happened to Naomi and their kid and some of the other main players.

Lone Survivor

I thought this was very well done, realistic and intense. The battle sequences reminded me a lot of Black Hawk Down, in that there were moments of peace and casual banter interrupted by mortar and rocket fire before a firefight breaks out and calm is restored again momentarily. Although I thought the film was good, parts of it did feel very much like military propaganda until the end.

NSFW:
The villagers who protect Marcus with their lives as the Taliban raids the village is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to see in this. I hoped for a multi-dimensional overview of the complicated situation in Afghanistan, not just another "good guys vs bad guys" war film, which is exactly what I thought I was getting myself into towards the beginning. The film seemed not only realistic in its combat scenes, but also in its underlying political situation. There wasn't the overly patriotic, "fighting for American freedomz" attitude. At one point even, a soldier about to leave on mission tell his wife that he will be out of contact for a few days because he "needs to pay the bills".

So overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit. I can't stand propagandic war films, and this certainly didn't disappoint me. Although it did make me feel like a giant pussy :P

the people around me ,were wincing and looking at eachtoher like wtf. ESP when leo gut punches his wife lol

I guess it's also different for someone like me watching it alone at home compared to some of these people who went with people to the cinema.

I watched Escape Plan last Saturday starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger it was a fun movie actually quite cool.
