I am going to switch to the 10/10 scoring system and see how that works out for awhile.
6/10
I know what you're thinking, seriously? 6 out of 10? You must be high. But keep in mind this is my drunk score. I could not have watched this movie without the fifth of gin I had in my backpack and my friend cracking jokes throughout the movie.
It was entirely more fun than it has any right to be. Me and my friend shared a virtually empty theater and just got drunk and laughed at all the god awful action movie cliches that seemed to march across the screen. But I gotta say, being a big action movie fan (especially of Arnold) it was fun to see all these action guys going way over the top and racking up a body count that easily reached the low triple digits.
Watching Arnold sling a heavy automatic shotgun around blowing fools away brought back memories of
Terminator 2 (my favorite action movie EVER) even though he looked old and less than his former self. And seeing Chuck Norris come in and then actually saying a Chuck Norris Joke! I nearly pissed myself laughing! It is not a huge spoiler so I'll just give it away as a treat. It will probably make you wanna see it just because of this one joke.
Stallone: "One of the crazier rumors I heard about you was that you survived a cobra bite. Is that true?"
Chuck: "It is true, that after 5 days of the most agonizing pain one could possibly imagine, the cobra died."
I seriously lost it right there. Not because the joke is especially funny, but just having Chuck saying a chuck norris joke! Priceless.
Now for my complaints of which are many. Action movies like this need to spread out the action. In this movie there was a near 45 minute gap of no one getting shot or killed. I nearly passed out of boredom during those 45 minutes of mind crushingly boring and unnecessary character build up. When I see a movie with this many action stars, I don't want a huge amount of dialogue, and the plot is entirely secondary. I want to see people die, in as many ways possible, and as consistently as possible. I don't care who the fuck the pretty boy bad ass sniper guy is dating. I really could not give a fuck if Jason Statham's girlfriend/wife cheated on him twice. I want to see chaos, mayhem, and fucking Arnold holding a huge mother fucking gun blasting away bad guys. And most importantly the constant references to the actors old movies where so God awful I had to laugh out of the sheer absurdness of it all.
Arnold borrows a shotgun from one of the guys in Stallone's crew, the guy says "If you don't give that back, you are gonna get terminated." I laughed but not because it was funny, but it was because it was so forced and awkward that in drunken stupor I couldn't help but laugh at such obvious fan fare.
With all that said, watch if you like action movies. And IMO watch while at least somewhat drunk, otherwise you might just fall asleep despite all the loud explosions.
