The Addams Family
hadn't seen it since i existed in the single digits, so i'm counting this as the first viewing. disappointing. i was expecting some burton-esque classic. it isn't. an hour and a half of going for cheap laughs on the rails of a bland plot. neither anjelica huston nor christina ricci save it. though wednesday addams is the highlight. the crazy mother acting like the doctor reminded me of peter sellers acting like the school psych in Lolita.

it was a long time ago. i remember thinking it was unintentionally silly. the paintball assassination was the last straw. i do not remember which version i saw, and, at however young i was, i'm sure there is a lot i didn't pick up on or give focus to. i had a narrower and simpler idea of what made a film good.Do you remember what you didn't like? Do you know which version you saw? I feel like I wouldn't have liked it as much if I saw the slightly shorter US version as they would have cut out a lot of key scenes showing the character development of Natalie Portman and Jean Reno.
