Reservoir Dogs. Cannot rate accurately as I was only half paying attention due to chats and alcohol, but it appeared to be excellent, and is worthy of a second viewing. Phenomenal acting.

Prior to this, I re-watched Fargo for the umpteenth time. Can't remember if I posted here about it or not, but it's still one of my favorites. Dark, bleak, and "you know, kinda funny lookin'." ;)

might have to re-watch Reservoir Dogs soon, haven't seen it for years

gonna look up Fargo

^ You won't be disappointed watching Fargo. Basically about a kidnap plot that's gone way wrong in a small town. Excellent cast, too. :)

^good buy. you're in for a treat. i've seen it 20+ times, and i still feel like i'm in for something special every time start it.

I saw Brothers last night on netflix. I thought it was good a pretty original storyline and the acting was good. All together a good drama.

The big Lebowski - just the type of original humour I enjoy. Recommend it to anyone :)

Amadeus. Haven't seen that since high school music elective. Such a great movie!

Fargo. I love the Cohen Brothers' films, but Fargo is hilarious compared to their other work. :D

The big Lebowski - just the type of original humour I enjoy. Recommend it to anyone :)

I saw it for the first time ever in January. HILARIOUS, Jeff Bridges ftw

Machine gun preacher , I thought it was a little bit over the top and a bit of a bullshit storyline.
NSFW:
then at the end of the film you find out it's based upon a true story, still a bit ott

moneyball... not bad. but what's with brad pitt's face, it suddenly looked like a cross between val kilmer and benicio del toro.

Paper Moon

a nice movie, and i mean to be slightly belittling in saying so. the first scene has this strange, almost surreal feel to it that made me think i was in for something semi-novel. it quickly becomes very hollywood. 1940s-50s hollywood. and it seems like the film is going for that feel. B&W, conventionally shot, over acted, grounded in plot and rhetorical devices. like creating a film about the depression era in typical 70s film fashion would have been absurd. if that's the case, it falls slightly short of achieving mastery of form, but it's a lot better than most of midcentury hollywood's white bread cannon.

it is feel-good. the chemistry between the film's duo is textured and pleasant. surely in part because they are played by an actual father and daughter. conventionally shot does not mean the film completely lacks aesthetic appeal. far from. the little actress can flick a match with her thumb and repeatedly inhale a cigarette without a cough like she really is from the 30s--the making for some cool shots that bring sally mann to mind. the focus on bare, impoverished american landscapes adds to all that; unlike many of the movies it feels so much like, they were out of the studio and on location for this one, benefiting the film significantly.

^ I watched most of Cannibal Holocaust a couple years ago. A friend and I were so jaded most of the parts didn't even phase us. Another friend walked in and made us turn it off, and she deleted the copy of the movie from my computer. I haven't sought out watching it again because of how gruesome it was, looking back on it.

^ Yeah... If I remember right, she made us turn it off during the turtle part. I dunno. It was all very surreal and looking back at how it didn't phase me at all scares me--Though I was well under the influence...

ATTICA! ATTICA! ATTICA!

Based on a true story. Real life situation was then used to teach future police about negotiating and crowd control. Police tactics have come pretty far since then.

Pretty good movie. Pacino played his part well

^movies had a raw-ness back then which is completely absent these days.

^ Uh, have you seen the trailer for Piranha 3DD? That movie looks like it'll leave you feeling pretty raw.
