Im just gagging to try heroin but you here so much bad shit about it. things like ppl robbing there own family to pay for it. A lad a know around the corner was shooting up with his 2yr old toddler in the house, and his lass found him with a needle hanging out his arm and the kid just running about.

but how addictive is it really? wahts the score

I think people who fall to those sort of extremes show up more about themselves than the drug itself. Heroin can be very addictive, but it doesn't cause you to do immoral things. Heroin doesn't take away your own free will and diminish your responsibilities. A lot of people have tendencies to blame their own problems on drugs.

if you're using the drug to block out or mask some problem in life then you could very easily get carried away with it. there are certain people that are predisposed to addiction (one could argue this). as long as you are responsible and happy before using, it is definitely possible to chip without any problems.

You cannot rely on others to prevent you from getting addicted.

If you don't believe you're strong enough to resist the temptation to use frequently enough for an addiction to set in, don't even touch it in the first place; it's not worth the anxiety.

No one can tell you whether you'll get addicted or not. Taking drugs is dangerous and you have to accept that there's an element of risk involved when using them.

Heroin isn't some great mystery drug. It's like any other opiate. People just look at the stereotypical junkie and assume everyone is like that who uses heroin. I have used heroin 4x in my life and I don't seek it out and its not like your instantly hooked unless your stupid and keep doing it as a daily high. If you do heroin, do it in moderation.

^ Whether or not you'll get addicted has nothing to do with intelligence. There's absolutely no way of definitely knowing whether you'll get addicted or not.

^^^Agreed...I mean, do you know anyone that started using heroin with the hopes of getting addicted? I doubt it...

I didn't mean you had to be stupid, I guess what I mean is if you let it become physically addictive. Such as using it everyday for an extended period of time. I've used heroin 4 times, each time 2 months apart, 1 time smoked, 3 times injected. I can control the psychological urge that would make me want to buy more heroin, as I keep myself from falling into those patterns. A friend, lets call him Clay, is physically addicted, and he cannot control the "urge" as he needs to take heroin in order to avoid withdrawel. Just try to keep the usage low, this keeps your tolerance down, saves you money, and a hefty addiction to opiates.

yea, this guy ketamike on here started using just to see if he actually would get addicted to it. kinda funny that u would ask this question. many people have hit an ultimate low and don't really care about addiction.

the majority however don't plan on getting addicted you are right.

yeah, heroin is an incredible drug once you finally get the right dose and route of administration. it is, imo, hands-down the best drug out there. that is both good and bad.

if you are not addicted to opiates already, and you try heroin once, it's not like you won't be able to stop. even as much as i love it, i don't do it all of the time.

a word of caution, though; if you are looking to avoid something in your life (feelings, problems, whatever), heroin can quickly and easily become that escape hatch. once it does, and you become psychologically hooked, it's not long before the physical addiction takes over.

moderation is the key. that's sometimes easier said than done. if you are someone who isn't already an addict, and if you don't have an addictive personality, then you should be fine. otherwise, if you haven't tried it, i wouldn't recommend it. at least not now.

for me, i didn't try heroin until i had other things in order. yes, i was already addicted to opioids/opiates (started with back pain, and grew recreationally from there). But, not until my company turned into a multi-million dollar machine, I had hired the right managers, my relationships were fiigured out, etc., did I actually IV heroin. I'm glad I waited. It was worth it.

Heroin is just the best opiate for the money when your addicted, thats why all junkies use it. I was on it for half a year, with other opioids before and after. Now I rarely use heroin, I take an opiod shot every friday. Mostly just buprenorphine, but it works for me. I couldnt find any today, and it really took some hard dicipline and a few beers to stop me from being angry about it..actually its still pissing me off.

Peace

Here's the problem. Very few people seek out to become an addict. There's no way of knowing that despite the fact someone says, 'Yeah, I enjoy this, but I have no intent on using it regularly' won't at some point fall prey to circumstances that cause them to reconsider for the worst. Including that after using the drug more than a few times it contributes to the diminishment of your rational thought processes.

I used heroin semi-regularly over a few months in 1998. I never had a problem. When I started again in 2001, I developed a really bad problem. And in the beginning, I kept telling myself I would just stop if it started interfering with my other responsibilities - and honestly believed that bullshit.

things like ppl robbing there own family to pay for it. A lad a know around the corner was shooting up with his 2yr old toddler in the house, and his lass found him with a needle hanging out his arm and the kid just running about.

Also, the initial question isn't about the consequences of heroin addiction. It's about how addictive heroin is.

But who cares how addictive heroin is? The reality is that if you become an addict, things like what is described above will seem completely normal and rational to you after a while. At some point, while you may not be so irresponsible as to get so high you nod out while tending to a toddler, you won't be above injecting heroin to stave off withdrawals while watching a toddler. Or before driving. Or doing just about anything. So what if your chances are only 1 in 20 of becoming a heroin addict? If you role a 20-sided dice, you can still be the one to roll that number and become an addict on your first turn. I tend to believe the potential consequences greatly outdo the rewards for people who have an inclination towards drug problems and a regular source.

Prescribed methadone is more cost-effective.

this isn't about cost-effectiveness. plus, methadone is in a totally different class when it comes to the way it makes you feel. it is not even remotely as euphoric. i take 150mg of methadone a day, so i'm speaking from experience.

we don't allow price threads in OD, so let's not make this a thread about cost-to-high-ratio. i can get 100 30mg MSIR for $30, see how this could/would turn out? cost-effectiveness is subjective.

I diagree with you. Methadone may not be as euphoric, but it's usually free in my country, making it a better option than heroin.

again, it's subjective. methadone is not free (for the most part) in the US. we'll just have to agree to disagree, but the point of this thread remains the same; what is heroin all about. not which drug is more or less cost effective.

I meant more "Oh god I must keep walking or I'll stop breathing" incredible rush for the money, OK? I can se I realy need to clarify my posts, but I'm drunk because I didn't get to shoot my friday peace medicine. I am in benzo wd and I realy would have been all fucking fine, but no.....

Nothing in the world is better than a thousand norwegian kroners worth of heroin IV'ed, but it would probably kill me now.
