Why are so many of you ignoring the fact that absinthe contains a multitude of mildly psychoactive herbs? Thujone may or may not play a part in the intoxication but that has no relevancy in the over all question of absinthes psychoactivity. Many mild intoxicants together can greate a greater intoxication through synergy. Think for a moment about the many other ingrediants in the drink, thujone is not the whole story.
I can assure anyone if you have quality absinth you will understand that it is alot more than being trashed on high proof vodka. But you need to drink it it without other alcohol and consume the first 3-4 drinks within an hour.
I just finished a bottle of kubler this weekend. It is 51% and I am accustomed to drinking gin at 47%. The difference in the intoxication is undeniable. It is a good brand to try if you are in the US.
