What's so great about New Jersey?

so i was tring to figure what jersey thread to put this in they is so many. anyways i am watching history channel this morning and i seen something called a fucking jersey devil. i know how hard jersey gets repped on this site. my question is any of you ppl ever seen this fucking thing or know any hardcore believers in the jersey devil. not the hockey team. anyways it just struck me as being kinda funny and wanted to get some opions for some real residents here not the few ppl they picked to put in the Monster Quest.

I know that show is alot of BS and the other seasons havent held a peak of intrest quite near season one. just find it amusing yall even got ya own urban myth running around in the pines

I heard it a couple times at nite. I aint playin, that shit chills your fuckin bones when you hear it.

I've never had any encounters with the Jersey Devil. But Weird NJ is a freaking awesome magazine!! Some of those places are fucking scary as hell, and really are true. Like 13 bumps road, that his just gives you the creeps. And Clinton's Rd. I really don't care if people don't believe if shit like this, but when you are driving down Clinton's Rd at 2 in the morning, and you take that one hard sharp turn, and you see sitting hidden in the back of the dirt/trees on that sharp turn you see this car, with 4 realy tall men sitting it, and as soon as you take the turn, their lights come on and start following you, you fucking gun it not wanting to find out what they want.

I remember that so vividly I am getting the chills just thinking about it. Definitily read Weird NJ, it's worth your time.

Ok so there is this kid who just moved across the street from me and is from New Jersey. All he fucking talks about is how "hard" New Jersey is, about all the murders there and all the beautiful women that live there. He likes to say
"Ohio ain't shit, boy", when I mention anything about my state. I don't even talk shit about Jersey to him, yet he constantly lectures me about how rough it is there.

I've never been there, so all I know about it is what I've heard and read. It doesn't really look any different than any other state, except doesn't it have lots of toxic waste or something? Anyways, I'd like to hear from people who have lived there. Is it really that "hard"?

New Jersey also has very beautiful, low crime, peaceful areas surrounded by many large parks and nature preserves. I live in such an area. All of the public schools are blue ribbon and the colleges near to me, including the one I am now attending, are highly accredited and all offer an extremely challenging curriculum. Even my community college that I graduated from last year had adjunct professors from Rowan, Rutgers, Keane, and Princeton.

My ex from jersey took me by Clinton Road one time because she knew I'd shit my pants cause i'm not used to the "dark-dark" from ny and all and it was the creepiest shit in my life. I swear I was gonna die and I was stone cold sober.

I'm originally from Northern NJ, and have lived there virtually my entire life. Basically, all of the major cities in NJ are run-down ghettos and are very rough, and the majority of the suburbs range from nice to extremely nice (especially in North NJ, some of those towns in Bergen County are where many athletes and other celebrities live). As others have said, what makes NJ awesome is the diversity...you can get mountain life, farm life, beach life, middle class life, celebrity-style life, and some of the roughest ghettos in the US, all within 1-2 driving hours.

Currently I am living in Central NJ (off exit 98 on the Parkway), but I consider anything south of Sayreville to be "south" Jersey. I hate it. I love the northern area of the state.

Born and bred in NJ. My family immigrated from Italy to the Bronx but eventually settled in Jersey. I grew up right with a strong family and great friends. While I've traveled to many parts of the country (love to vacation in SoCal), I love coming home. Lacey hit the nail on the head--it's home.

I live in the sticks and work in the hood and it's all good, we scare people away up on the dark roads with stories and in some areas suggestive grafitti or screaming and yelling because city kids get flattened by drunk hicks on these roads at night.
As for being "hard", or "grimey" that's ghetto life everywhere if you have no education, bad daily role models, fewer opportunities.
No one is messing with legit people doing their work in the cities, but if you roll into a ghetto anywhere in the world at midnight looking for something illegal what would you expect?
Your friend is probably feeling vulnerable and showing off because my guess is he probably stands out right now and is feeling like the new fish in prison. Be a good friend and don't lead him into anything that will put him on local OH police radar. And watch your wallet around him. Just kidding.

I'd say it's pretty bad. But I've also only actually visited the state 2 times.

Once in Fall 2009 cuz this really hot Puerto Rican dude I was "talking to" flew me up for a couple of days. We were in the Pennsauken area. It was a sucky trip overall and yeah, it was ghetto.

Last Summer, el novio y yo went to Six Flags there. It was a pretty drive once we got over the GWB and into the state. The tolls suck though.
