I consider NYC and jersey to be the same thing, just on different sides of the hudson.

I mean, I love the state and hate it. I want to leave, but I don't. It's like a drug. You hate yourself for loving it, but can't get enough of it.
 
I'm from (north) Jersey and absolutely loved it. One thing that people failed to mention is the food. Within 15 minutes you could dine at amazing Italian/pizza, Chinese, Japanese, whatever joints. The pizza, bagels, and bread that you find are better than anywhere outside NYC/NJ (due to the water). As someone said above, within an hour and a half drive, you are at whatever you want to do: the Shore, Great Adventure, the Poconos, NYC, shopping malls, etc. etc.

The town I grew up in is one of the richest in the country (albeit my family was one of the 'lesser' ones from the supposed wrong-side) and within 10 minutes, you were in the heart of Newark ghettoes. The compactness of the state definitely allows for quite the diversity. Oh, and South Jersey is an awful place - particularly for their affinity for Philadelphia's sports.

It seems like jerz/the city is the only places in this country where a slice aint a thick, gross slab of soft crust with wet sloppy cheese on it. its supposed to be thin, crispy, hot, a little bendy, with just enough cheese and damn, the sauce is a whole nother story.

same thing for breakfast, yall seen the quick check billboards that wsays "the classic jersey breakfast" with the buttered roll and coffee. shit. go head and try and tell them that in Pa or something. a hard roll aint supposed to be soft cousin!

seems like unless its the tri state area the excuses for bread and bread products, whether its long sub rolls, hardrolls, loaves of italian/french bread, bagels, or even pizza crust, are just sad excuses. dont fuck with the italians man, we make good bread. all them fake ass guineas in other states tried to steal the recipes but nothing will ever taste the same less its 'authentic'

Shit, gettin all elitist about bread bagels and rolls. lol. shits ridiculous but true :D
 
I just want to make it clear that most of the people that have contributed to this thread are from north jersey, the only part that counts. South Jersey (south of parkway exit 130) sucks, none of the stuff anyone said goes for them.

Anyways like yall said, the Shore is property of North Jersey so the south of ex. 130 shit dont count for that, cuz man, Exit 4 is the SPOT son.

But other than the shore and ASbury and those areas n shit, south jersey is a comeptelty different land. we do it different up north. its like taking NY (city) and making it into the northern half of a state, but crazier. south jersey is just like georga but with new york accents or some shit.

It's important to note that most of the beach front real estate in South Jersey is actually owned by people from North Jersey. We run this shit, they just live here. Err...not here. They live in the part we've deemed too shitty for our presence.
 
and they dont relaly knwo how to make food down there either. Its the high concentration of guineas that you have to thank for that up in NNJ. People in South Jerz might as well just be from ohio, the only other state that gets joked about more than NJ on this board.

BUT

South Jerz is also good for
1. body dumping (ay, we can do that in NNJ, but the chance of a house being built on it 3 weeks later and that shit gettin dug up again is way too high, and damn the Hudson river is at full occupancy these days.

2. Quests to find weird, freaky shit. just whip out the Weird NJ tour guide and you can always find that.

3. Camden. (well they need somewhere to get their drugs, lord knows why the fuck youd come up to the Bricks or Paterson when you got good ol Camden closer by.)

4. Great Adventure.

5. I dont know?
 
iv lived here for a year and a half and its starting to grow on me.

Drugs are easy to find, the people are friendly, its very pretty here, the girls are beautiful and slutty. Shit, i couldnt ask for any more.l
 
People from New Jersey are hard

and (don't get me wrong, I'd smoke a blunt with Lacey any day wearing my colorful rugby shirt, corodory pants, and NBs but) that means that they aren't the most hospitalbe people around.

At school most of the dickheads are NJ residents, as are most of the sluts. I am surprised whenever I meet someone from NJ and they have class and respectability. simply, they live in a dog-eat-dog atmosphere that leaves them selfish, unsympathetic, and constantly on the look out to gain without thought of others. Generally, people I dont want to be around as I try to be all "live and let live" and not "seduce your gf cause she was drunk"

With that said, your all right about southern jersey, they have the same classless, slutty, better-than-you attitude that they haven't earned. It is all nice, Jesus, be nice to people when your life isn't run by mobsters, and the whole grocery list of undisireables LAcey mentioned.

I'd be hard if I lived in Nj, instead I grew up in CT and got pop psychological issues instead.

The girls , for the MOST part, are very slutty. and there is a lot of hot girls here regardless of the "jersey girls aint trash, trash gets picked up" hooha. its cuz of the mixes of races, there is so much diversity here and a lot of italian/boriqua mixes which makes some fine ass looking dudes/girls.

^^^^true. And I'm not rich either. If their not a stoner or stoner-type, or goth kid, their probably pretentious. We have laid backs or pretentious.

And come on, its jersey. I love all the other NE states are the shit (except eastern Mass), as is upstate NY. Parts of Penn, Delaware is good, and Maryland is good from what I have seen.

But really I am just pretentious about Jersey. And white trash types.

And that list you mentioned lacey included, white trash, etc. They are much more interesting by far, so I could def see the appeal of them. But, I don't trust them, at all, and I like to be relaxed around people I am trying to drink with, chill with, whatever. I hate anxiety, as I am generally a nervous person(read: pop psychological issue)

and yes, many hotties are from there. But, as I don't want a bug, I don't touch them. The guys are sluts too, more so than normal guys.

Oh I will add it is nice to bounce problems off of NJ friends, as they won't tip toe around an issue. Their blunt, and I do appreciate that, sometimes I need a "stop being stupid" type of comment.

one of my best friends is from jersey, and I can easily talk with her more than most people.

It just get me people love it and defend it like its flawless. I don't love CT, i like it, its nice, but I will fully admit most of the stereotypes I have heard have some truth to them.

I will also fully admit, I wouldn't last in Jersey as I am way to trusting and laid back. I would literally be eaten alive.
