What's one drug-related myth you wish would finally disappear?

Persistent Drug Myth #688: Meth causes nasty meth-mouth, if you do meth your teeth will rot out and you will look like Les Claypool in the "My Name Is Mud" video and all the girls will reject you and every employer but McDonald's or the Lusty Lady Video Peep Show downtown
Off topic but a friend of mine was a stripper at the Lusty Lady in SF. It was the first unionized such establishment in the country ( perhaps the only one)
Her teeth are perfectly fine but then again she never did meth, so I draw no conclusions

To be fair, that might put a lot of people ( kids) off trying it. Certainly has me.
This might seem like a good thing, but it's not, because it ruins credibility when it's discovered. Honesty is a way better response. Trying to put people off and/or using scare tactics backfire. And besides, this isn't a decision we should be making for others. People deserve the right to explore their own minds how they see fit if they chose to do so. The government shouldn't be telling me what (personal use) drugs I can and can't have.

Magic mushroom or lsd will kill you cause you ll jump out a window
No, that's a ridiculous fear. You're more likely to get hit by car after drinking and trying to cross the street drunk. I know two different people that's happened to. And besides, if you're tripping responsibly, then someone without much experience such as yourself should be using a trip sitter, and that person wouldn't let you jump out windows or get hit by cars. Besides, if you think you can fly, test it from the ground floor first, then go from there.

I'm sorry to say it happens.
Does it though? Seems like it happened once in the 50's when the CIA was testing it on its own employees without their knowledge or consent. Keep in mind: this was before society at large new about psychedelics like we do today. If someone ghost dosed you and no one had ever heard of LSD or anything like it… you might think you'd lost your mind. But since that unfortunate and tragic incident, are injuries like this really occurring with any frequency. I seriously doubt it, but we won't know bc it seems emergency rooms don't keep track of that data. Not that it can't happen. I'm sure it can, has, does, and will happen again. I just don't believe it's very common at all.

1st time I tried mushrooms I was like “okay stay calm and stay on the ground” my home was high and full of windows, and actually got down to the ground in the garden just to be safe lol
Hell yeah, I've been there. The next level from there is clinging to the grass so you don't fall off the face of the earth… 🤣 Haha, visuals moving so hard it's like a psychededelic tornado.

This might seem

Yes, it does happen from time to time with LSD.

I used to live with a man who lived thought the sixties (he claimed to have directed the first few Happenings of Yoko Ono) as a twenty to thirty year old man, and he once said something to the extent of people jumping from buildings causing LSD to be banned; he had used LSD when it was still legal.

Dutch musicians Elly & Rikkert started a commune in Drenthe where someone also jumped from the roof, and there was recently a case where a student jumped from an appartment building on LSD.

Not sure if there are many documented cases of people jumping on shrooms, but I'm certainly not dismissing the possibility.

However, shrooms were banned (but not truffles) after a lady supposedly jumped from a window on them, but it was found she hadn't been on them (speed yes). The ban was not overturned.

Tried Ayahuasca once in college and it was the only time I ever had a paranormal experience happen to me under any sort of substance, ever. In fact it was a shared paranormal experience, between myself and two close friends I dosed with. For about a ten minute period (in reality who knows how long) we were all three of one mind and finishing each other's thoughts and jokes even though none of us were speaking. It's like we knew each other so well that each of us was as familiar to each other as the back's of our own hand. This was in 1994 and the experience still gives me chills though it was completely and absolutely positive. But that was almost textbook ESP going on between the three of us.

No, I don't think it does. Can you not see how that "scary story" bullshit that no one can ever document is just perpetuating the very myths that this thread is designed to point out as nonsense? People don't jump out of windows on acid. Find me four documented cases. Hell, I can't even find one, bc a second autopsy of Frank Owen suggested heavily he was assassinated.

Planes take off from the ground, not mid-air. No one leaps out of a closed curtained window thinking they can fly. That man was murdered.

This is not a qualification for what you're about to say…

That's a great story, but it's hearsay. That old hippie was just repeating drug lore mythology from the 1960s. You didn't question the quality of the intel because of his age and convincing manner, but that doesn't mean he's right, nor does it seem like that was the motivation behind the scheduling of LSD. Don't believe everything that you hear. I don't buy it.

Scare stories. Can't find a shred of evidence it happened. You've been lied to. People in the 1960's were full of shit.

Did they though? And who?

Anything is possible, including that you bought into a bunch of made up drug lore. I'm not finding documented cases of people jumping out of windows on psychedelics at all. They probably exist, but maybe they don't.

However, shrooms were banned (but not truffles) after a lady supposedly jumped from a window on them, but it was found she hadn't been on them (speed yes). The ban was not overturned.
Please fact-check this shit before repeating these stories some stoner friend told you.

You won’t find any “documented cases” on the internet , most of the things happening they are documented on police stations and hospitals not for the public eye , that’s reality for all cases of whatever , just because you can’t find proof of something on the internet doesn’t mean it never happened.

There's probably several people who had bad trips among the world, and jump off the window, but you can say that to all psychedelic in this case, but it would still be bullshits myths of moron. The set/setting is primordial fo psychedelics, don't take it in a closed environment if you feel oppressed, shit, don't take it at all if you don't feel it, this is not a game, this is identity/universal research

I always hated the ‘addictive personality’ comment.

Anyone can become addicted to a substance that is addictive. I think the phrase is used to categorize and demean.

I bet probably lot of people jump out of windows on stimulants , opiates , weed , etc on all kinds of drugs. People just love to jump off windows lol.

1st time I tried psychedelics I didn’t even knew what was they’re effects I thought they were fake bunk etc , was sick as a dog at that time with fever etc and ate alone 20g of truffles , what a ride!

Sometimes it's a game. Tripping is fun and there's nothing wrong with recreational drug use so long as they're used responsibly with harm reduction in mind.

Meanwhile, I honestly think Frank Owen was killed, and I can find no verified cases of LSD users leaping to their deaths thinking they could fly.

There's a lot of shit out there debunking that claim though if you just search around. Undoubtedly people fall to their death or major injury while intoxicated every year. But we're talking about people who become delusional enough on LSD that they mistakenly believe they can fly and to prove it they leap from a window. I'm sorry, but that is complete horseshit and doesn't happen. So stay off roofs while tripping if you want to play it extra safe. And as a rule, no leaping through windows whilst tripping either. Bam! Problem solved.

Ha yes that, well i don't get why people still think that, this is so much bullshit demonizing LSD, also it expand consciousness, soooo, if you see the sky on acid you can be sure to know you can't fly to reach it, but you might enjoy the fucking view :trippy3:

I have no fucking clue about Frank Owen's death, is it recent?

Imo this 'people believe that they can fly on LSD' is dangerous as people could be susceptible to things like that on LSD.
What I mean that danger is not in LSD, but in spreading disinformations.

Still, its a drug worth avoiding.
For most people who try it, it triggers nausea over any positive sensations, and they do not feel like ever doing it again.

For the minority people that get an instant great hit like I did, the bloody LAST thing you wanna do is reinforce that and tell them they are now permanently 'enslaved' because they had one initial great drug experience.
