Gotta say Frank Underwood is quite a character. Netflix know what they are doing too, releasing the entire series at once, on demand. They know people like to binge these days, not hang around a week to watch TV

Really enjoying this series on Discovery; 'Alaska, The Last Frontier'. Christ they are a hardy, self sufficient, tough and resourcefull bunch up there. The woman who struggles with killing animals found it much easier to kill one of their surplus roosters than she did to kill her first wild deer, even if she did miss with her first axe blow to its neck. Second time lucky.

The Walking Dead is doing my head in having to wait a week for each new episode, its just not the same. Its far more involving to watch 2-4 episodes back to back.

Precisely why I always wait til the end of a season and acquire the lot in one so I can watch at my own (considerably quicker than weekly) pace. I just can't get into a series shown once a week really. Not as involving as you mention. To be honest, I struggle to remember who's who and what's supposed to be happening half the time - particularly with these big US shows where there tends to be lots of characters and various subplots involved. If I were forced to watch weekly I suspect I'd give up fairly early on with most series.

Im not sure if i have the will power to defer my gratification like that. Up until season 4 Id been playing catch up so was able to watch it all the preceeding seasons in big chunks. Season 4 has been painfull, with the several month mid season break and then the weekly wait for the next installment.

I think i might watch Game of Thrones or Dexter next, with those i have the advantage that i havent seen any of them, so could watch them in the big chunks way.

Just watched second episode of The Life of Rock with Brian Pern (first two episodes on iPlayer at the moment). More smirks 'n' sniggers than belly laughs but worth a watch for the sheer number and variety of cameos and guest appearances. Plus getting to see Noel Edmunds (who appears to have fallen into a vat of beard-dye :D) use the phrase "Fuckin' disgusting". Properly shocked - thought he was massively anti-swearing.

Also led to the discovery of this lil gem...

I was a massive Doctor Who fan at the time but am buggered if I remember that. Must've been too bad even for mid-80s pop charts to register it. And - somebody tell me I'm wrong - but isn't Ian McCulloch in there somewhere?!? 8o

yeah he was there around the 3:10 mark, well spotted. Wtf. Maybe he did have a sense of humour after all. It sounds like stock aitken waterman shite. Never heard it before either, have a dreadfull feeling that "tune" will get logged in my memory now.

I used to watch it as a kid from behind the setee it was so scary (for a wee kid) in the Tom Baker days, and then skip forward about 30 years to matt smith and his gorgeous redheaded assistant/companion and i started watching it again, oh and i watched the one series with the Manc Dr Who, whats his name, argh memory's gone, Successful updates for sure though.

I watched the first episode of season one the other day. Couldn't face a second one. He's just a shite Malcolm Tucker.

Caught the tail end of Tom Baker (and the spinoff K-9 series =D) and watched all the 80s Doctors till the bitter (very bitter - we're talking Sylvester McCoy here) end. Was a massive fan. The TV version never scared me but the books did. Only the Cybermen ones though for some reason. And only one of those. I read it on holiday and absolutely shat myself. Watched maybe two (probably more like one and a half) of the new Doctor Who series and never bothered with the rest. See bits and pieces when I visit MamaSham's cos they all seem to be well into it. I may well like it if I watched it but just don't fancy being sucked into it for no obvious reason I can think of.

Pee Ess: Is Sylvester McCoy a Manc? Can't recall but I think so. If not there was Colin Baker and Peter Davison as the other two 80s Doctors. I liked Peter Davison best as I recall. Mainly cos he's the one that was around when I was at the age to really get into it.

Christopher Ecclestone was the guy i was thinking of, as i was/ am a fan of his, he was as good a reason as any to watch it again after a gap of 25 years or something. It seemed quite surprising that such an apparently serious actor would do something so apparantley ludicrous. It was a success though, and the redheaded lass was a good enough reason to watch the matt smith series, some of the plot lines and stories were half decent, if you didnt take it too seriously and just took it for what it was. If any of that makes any sense atall.

It does. And I've nothing particularly against the recent series, just not been especially drawn to it and know I'd only end up having to watch all of 'em if I did. Maybe one day when there's a particularly fallow period in the watchings of stuffs stakes. It's no different from spending a few days ploughing through one of the big US shows really - just not gotten around to it is all. That and I do dislike hype and it has been horribly heavily pushed across the Beeb for years which gets on my tits no matter how good or bad a programme is. Just don't like having stuff rammed down my throat.

Agreed, i struggled through the first season slightly out of boredom, didnt really grab me. not sure what the fuss is about

i never got into The Thick Of It, tried picking it up from about series four onwards, only found one episode out of the few i tried actually funny before giving up on it.

The thick of it started slightly weak then got amazing pretty soon i reckon, drew me right in, Malcom Tucker is a legend

I'm about to rewatch Series 5 Episode 10 of Breaking Bad. I was interested in watching Breaking Bad back when it first came on TV, but never bothered to. So the better half and I started watching it a few weeks ago, and watched from the start up to now. Watched the first two series in the space of maybe three or four days...

Slowed it down tho because it gets tiring watching that much of any programme no matter how well written, acted, shot and produced.

Probably gonna rewatch all of 24, too again before this new 24 guff gets cracking.
