Did a ~45mi bike ride through the rain and sun along the Rhein from Germany into France and back. Bought some wine, cheese, salami, bread and beer and had a picnic near some farmland outside of Seltz. Pretty good work out!

I'd say that is indeed a pretty good work out! I'm jealous, as I have not even peddled a foot in days. :(

I have a new 20 minute ashtanga (asana yoga) that I've been doing every morning. It gets my heart pumping with a nice sweat but doesn't take 1.5 hours like my last routine...which I think stopped me from doing it every day. This afternoon I did a grip of hindu squats and pushups. Feeling great!

I've peddled about 10 miles in the past two weeks. I'm going to go nuts by the time this thesis is done.

Oh man I feel for you. I pushed my huge half way point exam back a half year, and have semi vacation right now. I am using my free time like its going out of style. About 1400km in the little mountains in my town's 'backyard' (Odenwald).

Look on the bright side... when your thesis is done it is done!

Hopefully you have some good weather and free time coming up to enjoy!

That sounds pretty awesome, I´ve been avoiding endurance training because it interferes with strength gains.. I think I´ll go for a bike ride today though. I live by the Rijn too!

Did Squats, Overhead press and Deadlifts yesterday..

Did a light squat day: 5x20 kg, 5x40, 5x60, 5x80, 2x5x100
Did heavy OHP: 2x5x20, 5x40, 5x50, 5x55, 5x62,5 (Failed last rep..)
Did heavy Deadlifts 5x60, 5x90, 5x110, 5x130, 5x150kg!! (New PR of 150, very pleased!)

I might have to deload on heavy squats because I've been stalling on 135 kg 5RM for three weeks now, 3RM keeps climbing and is at 140 though.

Yeah, by the end of this weekend, I'll be crossing my fingers, praying that I have a C or better. Thanks for the encouragement. :)

I'm pressing my thumbs for you as they say here =).

Getting ready to go on a ~35 mi long ride here from Heidelberg down south to a nice little village. Just finished getting the ride ready. I have a decent map, I just hope the bike ways are labeled somewhat ok. I have only planned in an hour for being lost!

Sounds good, hope the weather's better down there! Do you have gps on your phone? I have google maps with cell antenna triangulation to get a rough idea of where I am if needed, saved my ass a few times.

S_L, what's your thesis topic, if you don't mind saying here? Or just roughly?

I have spasming back muscles, so no excercise for me for a few days :( Maybe some light yoga.

now that ive got a good handle on my new body after studying martial arts for a few years, im getting back into bodybuilding on top of it. i cant wait to see what kind of machine im driving in about 6 months :)

today on my day off, i did:
stretch session:
lots of sidekick extension holding, brief calisthetics for my legs, and practiced my split (i can almost hit my taint to the floor! another month or two and ill have a full split down with much concentration)

weight training:
squats, hamstring curls, adductor extensions, abductor extensions, quad extensions, calf extensions, all hypertrophy.

core exercise:
couple hundred crunches, other pilates-ish ab exercises

forms:
bout half (13) of the kung fu forms i know

weapons:
did a bunch of impromptu quarterstaff training, practiced my broadsword exercises, practiced doing some cuts on some old watermelons with my crappy sword.

ate well, rested well, twas a good day.

4 sets heavy weighted ab crunches
4 sets each side of oblique crunches, weighted as well
bunch of diff biycicle crunches, leg extensions, etc

bout 200 kicks, slammed my shins into a pole about 30 times each, slammed my elbows into poles about 50 times each, 100 finger pushups, about 13 or so kung fu forms

im getting to the point where you could slam a wooden board onto my stomach, and the board would break before i start to feel pain (that is, if im prepared for it hehe).

going out to swing splitting maul and drive wedges all day once again. worn out carcass but i sleep like a baby at the end of these days.

Lol that is the last time I trust google maps for walking for semi accurate distance information. The way was quite a bit longer than expected, and the bike ways were labeled really great most of the time with a few places not labeled at all which were not so cool, especially if you end up going up about 150m in altitude. The ride there took 65 mi, and the way back ended up being 52 mi (skipped some of the sign bullshit and used my home mountains for reference). On the way back I got caught in a pretty big thunderstorm, and got a flat tire (forgot to bring my wrench for my Alfine..). A nice family lent me a wrench and I was able to replace my tube and get on the way. Was a pretty great time. Now that I am somewhat comfortable with the way I want to bring my girlfriend with me next time (was riding to her parents house).

No GPS, just some shit ADAC map that let me down in a pretty big way. Thank goodness for nice people along the way!

Thesis is on Riemann integration. Did have Lebesgue integration in there, but the professor asked me to remove it. Whatevs. It's almost over, hoping I'll pass!
