Clann Zú are amazing. Loved them for years. Preordered their Rúa album back in the day, and the poor bastards stuffed up the order and I got 3 of them :)

Ever heard their track "Eist"? I've never seen it available for download anywhere, or on any cd. I've got it on my computer tho if anyone is interested. IMO one of their best tracks.

It's all a bit sad they've long since broken up :(

G7 often threw free shit in when I ordered CDs so maybe they were feeling generous that day. They always wrote a handwritten thank you note too so it was always a pleasure to order CDs from them. They had a deal when they were closing down where the first 100 people in got every album in their catalogue for $100 or something. Spewing I missed out on that!

Also farewell note was hilarious:

Class dismissed

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard any actual news from us related to this whole record label business, and for this we apologize. We’ve all been very busy doing anything and everything that has nothing to do with this record label.

But that’s all about to change.

Instead of pretending that we’re actually still interested in the practice of accepting submissions and hunting for, then filtering and sorting, then negotiating and paying for, then promoting and distributing and accounting for music … instead of pretending that we like and are happy doing all THAT … we are doing the opposite. And opposite, is opposite.

No more. I’m going on 58, Chris is pushing 65, and Brent … well Brent’s only 34, but he spends half of his time in the drunk tank and the other half in the dunk tank, so he’s a write off.

Point is … well, let me illustrate. Go to the kitchen, open the drawer … no, not that one, it’s all full of old twist ties and plastic bags … no, one to the left … no no, the OTHER left … OK, good, that one … now get a fork. No, that’s a foon. THERE we go – now THAT’S a fork! OK now, what was I saying? Oh right – now stick that fork in us. Because WE’RE DONE.

All G7 releases will remain available in their current high-quality digital form into the foreseeable future. Watch for Chris’ forthcoming retrospective on the history of G7 from AK Press next year?

It’s been a slice dickwads.

Words for Snow is my favourite Clann Zu track so listening to that now.

He sat and he prayed and he prayed and he sat and he prayed to St. Augustus, St Brigid, Padre Pio, patron saint of all sinners, patron saint of all fools, patron saint of every fucking dying crawling thing beneath him, shouting out the names of the dead & forgotten. And he cried out for Christ's sake help me! For Christ's sake get me out of here! God of all sick things get me the fuck out of here! Release me!

Oh and tnargus I'm definitely interested in the track you mentioned, I'll PM you my email address. Cheers!

i listened to the them crooked vultures album today

its very QOTSA... which is understandable since Josh is the guitarist and vocalist...

luckily, i love QOTSA... so it makes it good...

I was reading an interview with Dave in the paper, he is like super fit and like awesome or some shit now coz he hasnt played drums in that long.

Haha listening to Holiday by Unwritten Law 'cause a friend posted a link on my FB wall.

Lame but reminds me of being a 14 year old pop punk kid before I knew what punk was really. Shit I remember thinking Offspring were a heavy metal band. Naive!

Fun song, good vibes.

Speaking of good vibes I remember seeing Unwritten Law sometime in Newcastle when I was in High School and my friend caught the drum stick the drummer threw out. Then the guy standing next to him punched him in the face, grabbed it and ran away. Hilarious! Maybe that's why he turned into a stockbroking wanker.

Haha my band also used to play Cailin. Long live Scunts!

Dalek - Blessed Are They Who Bash Your Children's Heads Against A Rock

Just the intro to an album but it's the Jeremiah Wright sermon from the 16th Sept 2001, 5 days after the 9/11 attacks.

Dude is a royal dick in his day to day life, but that doesn't mean his words don't resonate.

Rest of the album is good too if you're looking for hiphop with droning wall of sound instrumentals.

Echoes - Best of Pink Floyd. Specifically, One Of These Days.

Never fails to impress me.

Though, I think I am going to wear out my Dark Side vinyl.....

Oasis - Champagne Supernova

So I'm doing my usual 8tracksathon and this came on.

The first (but not last) band to break my heart. What's The Story was the first album I ever listened to for hours and hours and hours on repeat. Champagne Supernova, teenage angst aside, is still a great song. And I still get it. It would go straight to the pool room if it wasn't there already.

How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?

This. So this.

OceanLab - Secret (Andrew Bayer Remix)

If I tell you a secret, will you promise to keep it? Keep it close to your heart and never tell a soul =D

'Cookie' remains my favourite song by the presets.. going to play it now.

The Presets - Cookie

Rollin Connection - Darkbeat Sessions 001

Pimpin funk, minimal tech goodness.
