Starting early me boy! Early but easy. Not hitting it hard just enjoying the flavour and the feeling.
The Newcastle federation Brewery stopped brewing in Newcastle many years ago. The bottle I have in my hand was brewed in Tadcaster, in
The smell of yeast next to St James's park no longer stinks the air , and the brewery has been knocked down. Along with Vaux brewery in Sunderland.
There is still a Brewery in Gatesheed (just over the river from Newcastle) but I don't know what it actually brews.
I was under the impression that the Gateshead brewery was still brewing Brown Ale, but I know about your Sam Smith's connections, so I assume there's is the Taddy brewery in question.
First beer I ever got into. I thought I was Ginger from the Wildhearts (who?).
Yeah, RIP Vaux. Double Maxim is now brewed (and sadly pasteurised) in Stockport by Robinson's. Brewing heritage really got fucked over by consolidation. A lot of gems are now a shadow of their former selves and/or have lost their regional identity. Shame.
EDIT: Anyone remember the futile marketing scam where S&N dropped the 'Ale' from the label in order to appeal to younger drinkers? Failed miserably.
