What would you do? (....IF your closest friend killed someone?) - Read 1st Post

Accessory after the fact. I don't think the joke defense would fly under scrutiny.

I don't see how anyone would find out that your friend had told you, unless he/she mentioned it when confessing, which would be pretty shitty after you kept their murder-secret.

Mazdan, the fact that your friend had the propensity to fly into fits of rage so violent that they had actually killed someone, and didn't feel enough remorse about it to own up, wouldn't worry you?

Good point Vanth................. haha I forgot I put that part in the concept.

Yeah I spose it would but then I tend to be a pretty accepting person and also forgiving as well as trsuting which means I probably wouldnt even consider i might be in danger...............and thats the story of my life cos i would prolly end up wacked.

My trusting has ended with me being stolen from and used many many times.

IP, your probably right but I would imagine they would not find it easy to prove unless as Vanth suggested, there was a confession.

What about when you didn't let that girl from your suburb into your house because you were afraid she'd claim you'd raped her? Not super trusting of you.

I'm not having a go, I'm just curious about the contradiction.

Big difference.............a person whom I love and am closest to in my life compared to someone who I have only met once before and who is obviously fiending for the big H. OK, I will however admit to also having a built in distrust of most women anyways.

I'd probably ask her if she's alright, with the hope that addressing her would provoke him less but still give him the message that someone thinks he's doing the wrong thing.

If necessary, say I'm calling the cops (and do) while scampering inside.

The danger with this approach is that the woman doesn't feel safe to say she needs help, even if she does. Intervening in any way in these kinds of situations runs the risk of the poor woman copping an even worse hiding later - unless you put the feller in hospital, which is risky of itself, for obvious reasons.

Having stepped in in similar situations over the years, and invariably copping abuse from both parties, I'm more inclined to stay out of it unless there is immanent danger of serious physical harm.

JUst remember, when you step in on a domestic and cop a mouthful from the woman, she is basically telling her partner "I didn't ask for this person to step in - please don't beat me later on that basis" :(

And for the second dilemma - would depend on the person who lived and the person who died...

yup... whats that saying? for evil to exsist sometimes it just takes the good to not intervene? or something?

alas we must suffer a different kind of evil: the indifference of good men?

topic: pretty sure you'd be safe from cops in any scenario. You're a flimsy witness at best, and unless he goes around telling the cops that he told you, pretty sure you're safe?..
probs keep it to myself, if i knew the person well enough to trust them.
If i didn't like them, i'd probably hold it as blackmail, and then dob them in on a good day :)

OK its time for a new one now that Im back from holidays.

This one actually happenned to me.

You are sitting in a milk bar sipping a milk shake when a kid walks in and spends some time checking out the candy. You then notice that he slips some lifesavers into his pocket.

He is on his way out of the store and about to walk past you.

Do you do anything? if so..........what?

Absolutely nothing. Who cares?

Even if it was just a little corner store their prices are so high nowadays I haven't got much sympathy for the proprietor.

Depends if it's one of my kids doing the pilfering - if so he will get an earful and the sweeties go straight back on the shelf.

If not - hard to give a rat's really. Reminds me of many years ago working in a building supplies place. I'm standing next to the security guard and we're watching this bloke load up the back of his ute with bags of cement. "Reckon he's paid for them?" the security guard asks. "Nup - what you going to do about it?" I reply. "Nothing" he says. We both just stand there watching as the guy flies out the drive with squealing tyres. Why should we give a fuck - shittest job eva and the boss was an arsehole.
