Further experience in this area may convince you differently. Most people that I have met in this society use fear to govern what they should do and what they should avoid. I am sure many people before me have noted this, I don't claim this is any great revelation....but since t I don't see it as a recurring theme in the things I read and hear.....I now take it up concept as something I want to speak about to those who want to hear.
Fear-based living...that is how many of us live. Fear dictates everything in so many people. People are scared because they are raised to be.
And perhaps if we lived in a jungle and did not record science and history with writing....our instincts (and fear) may be the best means to live by. But now we have knowledge and we have no need to let fear of the unknown rule our lives.
I have recently had friends and family around me decide on their own that perhaps I am on to something....and that maybe they should ignore their fears....people who are as 'straight' as a line....who were trained from birth to be afraid.
Psychedelics are not for a majority or a minority. They are for those seeking, and with the right intentions (and a good guide for before AND AFTER the trip) psychedelic CAN be a catalyst for great change.
There is nothing unique about a person who will have a mystical experience...with or without the aid of entheogens....rather the issue is just that most of us in the West are raised to think these experiences should only happen to select people in books. Many therefore are content to read about it in a book and close their mind to the idea that they can go there too. I see it every day.
I am here to say....don't just read life and experience in a book. The psychedelic experience (or any 'far out' experience) is not for a select minority of 'seekers' maybe people who think they are 'enlightened.' These experiences are for anyone seeking, those who are sincere in their intentions will eventually find what they are looking for. I know this as a universal truth because I speak from a lifetime of experience...and I speak from beyond my own personal experience.
Fear and excitement/elation are the same chemical process in the body. All that differs is how the mind labels and reacts to the sensations of the adrenaline rush. Once a person realizes this (and lives it) they can accept their fears, EMBRACE THE FEAR, and soon the idea of fear will no longer be a primary decision making factor in a life.
No one has to be special, or 'enlightened' for them to make this their reality.
The psychedelic experience isn't suited to everyone - there's a very small minority of people who are going to get anything out of it. The rest will just think "Ooh, I was scared and it felt funny".
