fun thread....

....whilst never really identifying with (or fitting in / being accepted by) any particular 'subgenre' (or genre come to that)...appearance-wise the strand runs summat like...

mod (ish) early teens...into androgynous oddnes (think bowie / reed stylee)...merging into mild hippydom...into full-on psychadelic-colourfulness...followed by a course of anarcho-dready-hippypunksquatterness...then morphing into kinda folky non-fashion and then a long spell of (massive) dready antifashion....after being shorn of locks I had an all-too-brief spell of reasonably well-dressed lookingoodness and have finally settled into piling-on-the-wight-fucknowswhatness (in a catwalk stylee)

Edit....forgot (or maybe blanked it out) the brief grebo phase which, oddly, came twixt mod and androgyny

Yeah you are right it is The Love album. Cracking Tune . I have seen a few of the clips on u tube of those shows that you are talking about . It's been a long time & i have changed a great deal since 1991 but i would still go to see them if they were somewhere local like Bristol .

I noticed on one clip that they opened with 24 Minutes from Tulse Hill one of their if not best tracks , they sound pretty tight as well

Im a 1985 -87 version of an Ian Mcculoch/Robert Smith/Jesus and Mary Chain hybrid, whose had to tone down his Robert Smith hair.. (for the young uns that's V similar to John Cooper Clarke on my avatar)

Dunno what subculture that is: gothic, pretensious hipster wanker, muso ?

I'll setlle for Muso in my own head, i think one younger and impressionable friend has paid me such a high compliment so I'll bestow the honours upon myself....Does that count ? (Apart from Missing Nirvana touring the small venues with "Nevermind" before anyone had ever heard of them, I'd be a proud member of such an ephemereal (is that the right word) club.

Apparently people of my generation and tastes are supposed to wear Harrington jackets to show they are still with the punk spirit. Bah. I do like those jackets, but dont want to be a total stereotype.

If i am being more of an arsehole than usual today, i'm blaming that on the binge im on. (I am being safe) Possibbly one of my last ones, though that may be too early too call.
