What social clic do bluelighters put themselves into?

I think I went through a brief period during my teens where I desperately wanted to be part of some larger group. My first attraction was to the punk scene, but none of them seemed to like me, so then I decided to get into the metal scene, but I never felt like I really belonged there either, though I like the music. Eventually I decided to really get into the art "scene" which is a horrifying compression of every counterculture scene on Earth, and it struck me as kind of corny because all the most respected "artists", seemed to suck, and just had good charisma.

What clic am I in now? The one that all the creeps in the back of the room with nicotine stained finger tips and track marks belong to. It's a riot!

i guess i would be a modern-day hippy. i hang out with who-ever yah know? doesn't matter what "group" do they belong to.

prankster/athlete/intellect

loner, most of the times i use my drugs of choice i like to be alone, with music

If someone were to describe me, it would probably be "young professional" "artist" or "skater/ stoner" (interchangeable), not in that order.

I don't know, I've always been able to go between all the tribes, but was never totally in any one. So, a poseur. Lol.

I'm 20 and I think of myself as a grunge/generation X/90's-like person. You know, long hair, jeans, read books, hate stablishment although I know I'm part of it.

I think that "jocks" in the US are pretty accurately portrayed in the movies/films. Their families may buy them a lot of things, and although I wouldn't call them scary, they usually will fight. Actually, jock fights are a pretty common occurrence on any party night that involves alcohol, and a group of them.

Jock culture as portrayed in the movies is more of a high school thing. Jocks that smoke weed are generally a lot more tolerable than the ones that just drink and get rowdy. After graduating high school, most of them end up staying home and going to community college, living in the past, while the rest of the people move on with their lives, many of whom go away to University. Almost every "jock" from my high school still hangs out with each other, and never actually went on to make new friends. It's pretty weird, like they have all dated the same girls by now since of course they still hang out with the same girls they hung out with in high school. Even the ones that went away to college seemed to only go to a school that a few of their close friends went to, and they just kept on hanging out with each other instead of branching out. I find it sad, actually.

I would have to disagree with you tommy. I never classified myself as a jock, but others have called me one. My parents sure as hell didn't buy me everything. I had some rich friends, but most of the time they acted like they didn't have that much money and would get pissed when people would call their family rich.

I do agree that there does seem to be the two different groups of jocks, ones that smoke weed and ones that do not. Both of them get along with one another perfectly, but the ones that just drink are just douchebags most of the time.

All my friends still hang out together when everyone is in town, but I guess it's nice to know you have a group of 10 people that have your back no matter what happens. We were never really the ones to fight, but we all got in a fight one time because we had a black guy with us and these rednecks didn't like the fact that there was a black guy at the same party that they were at.

It is pretty weird dating or hooking up with girls that a good bit of my friends have hooked up with, but I think every clique has those girls that get passed around.

"Call me the breeze. I keep blowin' down the road." More or less a drifter. I've had friends from all walks of life, however I'm not one to stay in touch, nor be contained to a certain group.

On another note, I'm a longtime lurker, but this is my first post. Hey bluelight!

Tricky to pin myself to a group. I wear jeans (some skinny cause my girlfriend likes that) and chinos. All kinda t shirts I think look cool, different coloured cheap flannel shirts with the criss cross square design going on from second hand retailer. Then vans and hoodie. Pretty new generation skater orientated but that is just what I think looks good and i'm comfortable in. I cut my own hair so it usually turns out pretty mod/punkish but at the moment it's quite smart cause I treated myself to a barber for my birthday.

As far as what kind of social group I would put myself in would be lazy, smart, getting high all the time, gamer/festival craving, social exploring, good time raver. It's all about having a laugh when i'm relaxing and when i'm partying, good friends is the key for me. Finished 6th form and stayed at home - i'm not following sheep into further education, I need time to figure out what I want. Eventually got round to getting a job as a chef cause I enjoy it (in a fresh food restaurant btw, not some corporate pull out of the fridge, slap on the grill place). Now saving to go travelling home to New Zealand with my girl. Then maybe go to uni if i'm feeling unfulfilled in my mid 20s. Pretty relaxed about life despite the pace of living in England.

If you know what group I fit into let me know cause I haven't got a clue. Metal music is my wife, electronic is my mistress. Everything else I listen to - prostitutes.

Back in HS I was part of the stoner circle (along with half my class), and used to play a lot of RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons (before Wizards of the Coast bought up the whole RPG market and everything went to shit).

These days, I retain some of the people from my old roleplaying groups, even though I'm the only one who's into harder drugs, but those guys are really OK and I'm proud to call them friends.

I always partied alot in college, but somehow nothing ever formed through that, I guess because we were all too drunk all the time.

These days, I'd classify myself as a junky nerd, if such a thing is possible, still playing tabletop games, reading a lot of SciFi/Fantasy books and getting as high as can be while doing so.

I guess the group I am most associated with the most is ravers, although I haven't attended that many raves recently. More generally, I'm a druggie; the people I tend to hang out with are other students at my university who like drugs.

My hipster sense is tingling ;)

I wear PJ's everywhere...does that sound like a hipster to you? lmfao

I hang out with a certain *small* group of people, but we all have our own tastes in everything, so I wouldn't call it a clique lmfao...

yes...

yes I am...
