You would have to be patient somewhat...

No shrooms are not plants

but nevertheless they are really fun to grow. Growkits are too expensive IMO though and doing it yourself requires some investments of money and energy. If you dedicate yourself a bit it's very doable, not saying it isn't... but don't start with it on a whim is all.
Salvia is messed up when smoked but tinctures might prove interesting indeed. Not at all a bad choice if you ask me.
As far as I know all or most plants that are really interesting enough are more or less exotic, that's what I call (sub)tropical I guess. If we're talking indoors there is not a lot that would actually grow inside but maybe you are willing to buy powerful light? Still, it would come across a little funny to me if you want to grow khat or kanna. :D
If you are asking the question you are, why not check some ethnobotanical webshops - those selling psychoactive plant material? Then see if they can be cultivated inside realistically.
There are different opinions on ethnobotanics, some categorically reject synthetic drugs and value the ritual, history of use and natural status of them. Don't fall into the fallacy that natural must mean safe though, think of the many poisons present in nature.
On the other hand there are a number of people (like me) that have rarely had psychoactive plants that were worth it. Kava is okay, kratom is nice but expensive, many other things are even less interesting IMO.
